2 -Year, $9M deal per NFL Network.

It will not be the popular move. And I suspect that the first time Sutton fails to bring a RB down in the backfield or get home in time on a blitz, it will be a widely derided move. But, it was the smart move.

Sutton is a better coverage defender and more flexible in where he can line up.

Now if they can possibly work something out with Hilton.

Sutton was priority #1

without him we have no slot corner or backup plan for an aging Haden.

for me this was the guy they needed to resign of the DBs . I would love to have Hilton back too but Sutton can play Hiltons spot and he can play outside if need be and doesnt command the same Money as Hilton likely does due to not being as well known around the league as Hilton..

great move and at a very good price , I am actually shocked we got him this early in the process at that number I thought he was gonna be a 5.5 mill to 6 mill a year guy

Good (and expected) move. Clearly, Sutton is looking to turn those two years of additional playing time into a bigger contract at still a young age.

I like it. Also like that it’s only two years in case it doesn’t work out.

A corner that was drafted, developed and now re-signed.

Now try to re-sign Alualu, Banner, Wormley.

Expect 1 or 2 contract restructures soon.

I hope we can keep them also.

To me, this move was necessary. I'm very happy they were able to sign him!

You are starting to see some moves that put the team on firm ground heading into the draft so they don't have many glaring needs.

Hoping we can keep Hilton, given the FA market will be slow this year it is possible.

Maybe it’s sour grapes but I would be surprised if Hilton makes the same impact on another team as he does on the Steelers. Here at times, he plays LB and rushes the passer and gets splash sacks. I don’t know if he can re-create the same success elsewhere. Sutton is probably the better cover corner

I saw a stat about where Sutton had lined up. These are not exact stats, but it was something like 50 snaps at left corner, 50 at right corner, 50 at nickel, 50 at string safety, and 50 at free safety. His versatility is uncanny!!!

with the way free agency is unfolding signing Hilton would be the best move remaining,

Found it. I had to dig back a ways.

slot corner: 41%
boundry (left or right) corner: 29%
strong safety: 17%
free safety: 12%

Steelers re-sign CB Cameron Sutton (2 years, $9 million): A+ Grade

I'm almost at a loss for words at this contract. I don't understand how the Steelers were able to retain Cameron Sutton so cheaply. Sutton has been a solid No. 2 cornerback for the Steelers over the past couple of seasons. He's also just 26, so he could continue to improve.

This is a no-brainer A+ signing. Sutton should have received a contract worth more than double this amount. He needs to find a new agent, but the Steelers will enjoy his quality play at a cheap price in the meantime.

Sutton is a very underrated player. I won't be shocked to see him get an extension next offseason.

I read something that his cap hit this year is only $3 million, which means he’d be “more expensive” in 2022 (a whopping $6 million)... lending itself to an extension for STARTER money.
