Why, because of play or behavioral?

Why, because of play or behavioral?
Both. 12 TD and 14 INT in 2 years and was relegated to 3rd string on a lousy team. Missed being in "victory formation" last season because he was taking selfies with fans...now this seasons antics. No thanks.
If you can play in the NFL, people look the other way. Tyreek Hill choked his girl unconscious, Leonard Little killed a man drunk driving, Greg Hardy charged with domestic violence, drug possession etc. If Washington is releasing Haskins, his talent isnt worth his indiscretions, so pass.

Both for me. Shitty attitude. He’s got that “baby attitude”. Not ready or committed to play with big boys. I’ve watched him a couple times...don’t think he’s got it mentally or physically.

Better than Mason Rudolph, why not?
Though my worry is that why would a rebuilding team like Washington axe this guy, when they're a team that would be primed to build their team around a 'young, talented guy'

Both.
Both
I get the idea, but it really can't be both. If you don't think he can play then that's enough. Do you want a guy who can't play but has a good attitude?
For me, the attitude stuff can be fixed given that he's 23 and just had a very humbling experience.
EGJ, what did you think of him coming out of college?

I wouldn't go anywhere near Haskins.
He's done nothing to show he can get anything done on the field.
He's done nothing to show he can be trusted off the field.
He's done nothing to show that he is willing to do the work and put in the time necessary to be an NFL QB.
He's done nothing to show that he even wants to do anything at the NFL level other than cash checks and act like a fool.

Going to be a full Steelers QB room with Darnold, Stafford, Duck, Rudolph, Dobbs, and Ben. Matt Canada will need an assistant. :chuckle:

Duck would be a good QB if he had an arm. Is it possible for QB's to improve their arm strength or is that something you're just born with?

It’s is both though. He’s got a shitty attitude and he’s not good. You can have players with great attitudes but not be good. (Ryan Switzer). You can have guys with shitty attitudes and be great. (AB).
Haskins is the kind of guy who probably would have benefitted by the extra college year of maturity.

If you are an established athlete that has built up your arm strength over the course of a lifetime of preparation and use, you can improve your arm strength slightly with a lot of work. Adjusting throwing technique and learning to use your legs more with good footwork to maximize what you have. But for the most part, you have the arm strength you are born with. It is a God-given thing if you are blessed enough to have it. Unfortunately, having a rocket arm isn't something you can acquire. It's the way it has always been.

You can get kids to throw a 2lb or 3lb weighted football as youths and thru high school in order to improve arm strength. Not sure if a 3 lb weighted football is still gonna help a kid in college with arm strength, but I dont think it hurts.

He's not good but if he wants to sign for a vet min then why not? in terms of "Talent" he'd be the 2nd best QB on the roster.

Whoever signs him is on the hook for his $4.5 million contract...

He’s the 2019 15th overall pick with a 5year hitch...
I don’t see a team picking him up with his recent history and inconsistent play.
Would have to be a super desperate team in 2021 especially with the lower cap.

Not if/when he goes unclaimed. When he goes through waivers they could sign him to the practice squad if they want to..

I just read that his contract is guaranteed... and that whatever team picks him up would take over that contract.

But if he passes waivers unclaimed that contract is null and void. Free to negotiate whatever deal he can get. Which might be a bag of used kicking tees at this point.

So, he’s get his $4.5 million from Washington (it’s guaranteed). If he signs with another team, does he lose that?

I think that if he is claimed by a team on waivers, they pick up the 4.5. If not, then WFT still pays it. But I’m not sure.

You are correct. Only if a team claims him on waivers will they have to pickup the remainder of his contract with the WFT. Once he clears waivers (and I assume he will), he is then a free agent and will have to negotiate a new contract with a new team if there are any suitors.

True, but he asked about a grown man that has already developed and worked on his arm strength and played some NFL quarterback. At that point, gains are minimal.

Yes, that is why I mentioned highschool and college kids using it during developmental years. Arm strength with a football is no more "god given" strength than strength on a bench press.
Its a ballistic throwing skill like shot put or javelin and can be worked on. But you would think that by the time a kid got to the NFL, he has worked on enough arm strength and technique to develop close to his true potential....but in Hodges case, who knows. I honestly dont get concerned by a lot of 4th strong QB's.

Reading up on Haskins.
1) Pre-draft the coach and GM didn’t want him. Snyder overruled and demanded that they draft Haskins.
2) Late to meetings. Refused to study the playbook. Didn’t watch a minute of tape of opponents.
3) Was not rude. Not arrogant. Very pleasant to ge around, but simply had zero interest in being in the NFL.

I guess it would come down to an interview with Haskins. What is he willing to commit to doing to be a successful NFL player?
I mean, I guess if he isn't a bad locker-room guy...then bring him in on the Paxton Lynch Theory that he was drafted high for some reason.
Not like they have better options. Scouring the Earth is pretty much their best plan at this point.

I hear what you're saying, but everyone is born with a certain limit of arm strength. Some with more than others. Sure, skills are developed, but there aren't that many people on the planet that can throw a baseball 100mph no matter how many techniques, drills, and workouts they do. Hence "God-given".
We are all born with certain physical gifts and limitations.

Agreed. I honestly was not a fan of Arians offenses and his failure to use a running game, but rather a lot of 5 and 7 step drops that got Ben sacked and hit, bubble screens that went nowhere and 3rd and 1 empty sets and throw incomplete to the H-back. But I still would rather have BA call a Steelers offense than Fichtner.
