Hopefully this is just what the doctor ordered. Hoping we can work on the running game with our new OL group and get our defense rolling and more comfortable with their assignments. Get a win here and we can start resting players for the playoffs to allow them to heal up and get ready and healthy for the playoffs.

The good news is if we score 19 points its a victory. Bad news is we have to score 19 points. 24-12 Steelers

Conner is going to have a short career. He runs hard but his body can't seem to take it.

Agreed and to make things worse, he has a hobbled o-line now.

I think in order to have career you have to play in at least HALF your teams games each season.
They need to rebuild the OL and draft a RB this year. If Ben is truly done I'd love to see the Steelers do what the COLTS did to Manning, just move on. Ben's CAP hit could be used to sign a lot of our defense next year and trading/signing/drafting a new QB has to be a priority. I keep bringing his name up but offering the Eagles a second round pick for Jalen Hurts could be a stop gap. We have four REALLY good receivers that are young. We just need a guy that can get it down field to them.

Beat the bungholes first, then relax. I'm still not a big believer in the 'rest' theory. Maybe a 'play to not get hurt' theory is okay. It just seems more time than not when some player's sit out games, when they come back in the game their timing and rhythm is off so bad it hurts the team (i.e. Ben) and takes too much time to get their crap together. And play-off time is NOT the time to start practicing routes. Resting to repair soreness or injuries I agree, but to just sit them for the hell of it .... no. Just keep playing the season out as a scrimmage atmosphere. Just my opinion. Beat bungholes then we win division. Winning division, playoff bound, the last 2 games don't matter....just scrimmages.

If they don’t win by two TDs minimum, I give up.

They need to win by double digits, they can't go full Steelers and work extra hard to make this a 1 possession game

Don’t get me wrong, the rest was to allow the dings to heal up, I was more thinking more rotations, sitting key guys in the 4th quarter, like you state, scrimmages. Need to get the newer additions to our defense some more playing time together get themselves better in their roles.

If they beat the Bengals then I would play the starters for 2 quarters in the final two games to stay as sharp as possible with live bullets being fired and then let the backups and PS players finish up the game to get reps just in case they need some of them during the playoffs.

Win. This is not a gimme. The Bengals suck but we will get their best effort. They beat the Titans. Get this win then let's talk about what the next options are.
IF our guys don't have focus drops this week this game should be a blowout. That really is all it should take. The Bengals have averaged 10 points per game over the last 5 weeks. Just catch the ball and fall down at 5 yards is good enough. This is for the division.

This is a winnable game and the Bengals defense is a perfect fit to get the offense back on track. Just don´t drop the balls.

Let's just hope Ben and the offense doesn't go 3 and out on the first possession, that seems to set the tone of most of the games lately.

Dotston is out. Hassenauer likely gets the start. Ya know, I think they have options, as the Steelers would have worked in somebody else to get reps at guard, whether its Derwin Gray, or Jerald Hawkins and even Danny Isadora, but not sure when he cleared protocols after coming from KC or how much practice he got.
Conner is questionable. I still think their next best option is Jaylen Samuels at RB. Snell seems too slow and doesnt finish runs well. McFarland goes down on first contact like Dri Archer.

Would be nice to have Wisniewski right now...who is playing well with the Chiefs, right now...

I thought it was a great signing at the time. He certainly would have come in handy now.
He was injured, but it was strange the way he was released. I wonder if he requested it knowing he would have a chance to get back to the Chiefs. :noidea:

I got a feeling that he didn't want to be here and it was better to release him than have a disgruntled vet OL wandering around. Maybe he played well in KC (I haven't been watching enough to really know) but he stunk when he was here.

I liked it a lot as well and he seemed like he was very enthusiastic when he was signed. I thought the Steelers were his childhood favorite and that whole story...maybe not.

does anybody actually get excited for a game against the bengals? it's one of those matchups where if you don't at least win by 20 points it feels like a loss cause they suck so bad

Josh Dobbs is active. I’d expect to see him on the field as part of a running package.

Yup, just as I figured. NOT a gimmee game. Playing down to bottom feeders. Coming into game unprepared and not motivated. Poorly coached and ass game plan. Steeler's should hang their heads, be embarrassed and apologize to us fans. :flipoff:
