DPOY

DPOY

It'll be close between him and Donald. Though I think Donald will get it at this rate, nothing against Watt, but Donald is a freak of nature. He's been double teamed all year and still takes over games. Probably the most dominant interior lineman I've ever seen since Cortez Kennedy and he's probably even better.

I remember JJ saying TJ was going to be better than he was.

If Watt's production stays close to this current level I do think he will get the DPOY over Aaron Donald this year. TJ is the #1 ranked edge defender on PFF currently (..PFF is not the be all, end all, but it is an indication of his dominance..), and he plays on an elite team this season. He has twice now been defensive player of the month in the AFC this season which is hard to do.

This is the 2nd time he's won this war this season. Watt's on pace to better his 2019 efforts. No words, we've got a hall of fame player in his prime.

People also seem to forget that TJ doesn't rush the quarterback on every play. He has coverage responsibilities, so he has far fewer snaps rushing the QB than defensive linemen on that list do.

TJ also gets double teamed often. It will get even harder for him with Dupree out. People make it sound like Aaron Donald is the only guy that gets double teamed in the NFL.

Really only a two man race for DPOY at this point...right?

Should be a DPOY, CBPOY and a Super Bowl MVP on this team in 2020 ;)

I heard somebody talking that if Garrett had not missed games this year due to Covid he would be in the conversation. I havent watched enough Browns games, but when he played the Steelers he didnt seem as impactful of a player as Watt is in pass rush, run defense and even coverage. Browns reporters be crazy.

My best friend friend is a Brown’s fan; so, I’ve seen quite a bit of Garrett. He’s really, really good. But, he’s not TJ Watt good.

I know you are kidding, but the national media seems to want to push Myles Garrett as the top candidate for DPOY. Myles is a great player, and while I do not have the stats in front of me, I think he has significantly less overall QB pressures and tackles for loss vs TJ. I know he has forced more fumbles this season, but I think that may be the only defensive stat in which he leads TJ (and I think TJ was leading in these categories before Garret missed games due to COVID).

I was mocking Browns fans who troll every Steelers thread on Twitter. Something like this:

STEELHOUSE: What a game. Watt saved us.
BROWNSTAIN: Myles Garrett is better.

STEELVICTORY: Watt got held!!!
STAINLOSER: Myles Garrett is better.

STEEL43: Do you guys have Troy’s book?
SHITSTAIN: Myles Garrett is better.

BLACKGOLD75: What are you eating pregame?
STAINS4EVER: Myles Garrett is better.
