Feel bad for Bud. Playing out the tag at a position that knees are critical

Dang. The way he was hitting the turf I thought for sure he felt something bad. Too bad for the guy in a contract year...that is why I never begrudge a NFL player for holding out for the money, as there are no guaranteed contracts in the NFL.
Highsmith, Olaqwerty and I guess Jarone Elliott have to step up now.

Sucks for Bud, he was finally turning into the player we thought he could be after just about being written off as a bust. Highsmith will excel now with more reps and Ola on spot duty. Losing two pillars is not good,we’ll see what happens. Unreal.

When I saw it live I wondered why he was slapping the ground after he went down...I thought uh oh my worst fear now realized. He was having an amazing year and wanted to see him and TJ Watt smash some more QBs. Damn what bad luck.

Think we could talk Clay Matthews into coming aboard for a chance at another ring? Just a thought? He would help better then relying on High and Ola. If not him, anyone else come to mind?

Really like this idea, actually forgot he was out of the job and he would be fresh for the run. Also he should be fairly familiar with our system bc Dom capers ran basically the same defense with the pack

This really sucks.
Bud should still get paid, as it's been said multiple times before, ACL injuries are not viewed like they were 15+ years ago, a full recovery should be expected.

I don't think he's going to get the blockbuster contract now. He may have to settle for a short-term deal. The team may have an opportunity to sign him for a more reasonable number if they choose to.
If any of the backups prove they can consistently produce, it would really give the team options.

The one year we are rolling like no other at 11-0. To lose Bush and now Dupree.
Damn it.
I'm actually happy we traded for Williamson. Yeah I know he's not an outside LB but without him we would be real thin.

Bud's last play as a Steeler. How sad.

Feel sorry for Bud, but I like what I've seen from Highsmith in limited reps and we'll see how he does.

Yep. About all we can do is hope that Highsmith steps up as well as Spillane has.

I blames Tuitt's stupid tweet. Very out of character from him.

Spillane has been outstanding imo.

He has been a pleasant surprise. BUT...there is a drop-off. Most recent play that stands out in my mind was Griffin ran off tackle on a 3rd and short and just barely converted. Steelers strung out it out fairly well and I think Spillane even made the tackle. But Bush might have beat Griffen to the corner and stopped him just short of the conversion.
I'm not trying to detract from Spillane, but he is slower disengaging from blocks and he just doesn't run like Bush does. Not his fault.
But if Highsmith is a similar downgrade from Dupree...I think we are going to be treated to far far less pass pressure and significantly larger running lanes.

Spillane looked like exactly what he is...a competent back-up LB'er. He is the guy that plays when your starter needs a breather, carries the full load when the starter inevitably gets hurt, and works his way into becoming a fan favorite. Every single team in the league has a LB like that on the roster. :chuckle:

I'm ok with Highsmith. Of course there will be a drop off from Dupree. Just remember we had ChickFilA as the primary backup last year.

I really hate this for Bud most of all. This has to be a huge blow for him with the season, not only he was having, but that the team is having. Injuries always suck but this man seems to be snake-bitten by them.

TJ Watt was just saying how much he already misses Bud. Not on the field, but as a person. Their friendship is what I love most about them. As I’ve said before, they seem to genuinely “like” each other.

Watching them do their little "hi five" celebration is great.
