It could have been a lot worse.
It was supposed to be a lot different.
Roethlisberger was supposed to be a pariah. Byron Leftwich was supposed to start in his absence. The Steelers were supposed to stink. Going 2-2 in Ben’s absence was the perceived high-water mark; 1-3 or 0-4 seemed far more likely. Roethlisberger would return to a season already ruined.
