Elliott took that spot quick.

I would be very surprised if none of our players who are going to be cut are claimed by the Giants
Their new head coach has been with the Patriots for several years, so with no preseason, he's going to want as much detail as possible on the practices of the steelers!

Didn’t the Giants sign him last time the Steelers cut him? Lol. I’m pretty sure it was them.

Surprised to see Switzer and Cain both cut...thought one of them would stay.

JC Hassenauer made the roster which keeps 9 OL, though he may be insurance in case DeCastro misses week one.

Only took 6 years for the Steelers to realize how useless McCullers was. A little surprised by Deon Cain, I thought he flashed well during the season. Must have stunk in practices

Ray Ray took out 3 guys at once: Switzer, Cain and Kerrith Whyte (returns, although Booger's "not his real" son had a hand in kerrith getting cut as well)

I think this decision has more to do with the fact that the steelers don't see themselves needing traditional NT than it does having confidence in Davis stepping up this year. Although obviously he impressed somebody.

Figure a lot of those guys circle back and end up on the expanded PS, especially since they expanded the eligibility parameters as well.

Probably. I also think we should expect personnel decisions to go a little retro back to the 90's for a few years with the reduced salary cap. If people remember in the 90's, when the salary cap first came about it was middling type veteran players that payed the price, as teams tried to save every penny on the cap. Eventually teams learned to manipulate the cap (nobody better than the Steelers) to keep those type players. Well for the next couple of years expect a return to such shenanigans.

I think this is more about what McCullers didn't do rather than what Davis was able to do in limited action. Big Dan hasn't done enough and the team is willing to give a kid a chance because they think they see something in him.
I'm down with it. Now we need to see what he does if he sees the field against real NFL players playing at NFL game speed and intensity.

Paxton Lynch is still unable to beat out Mason and Duck for a roster spot. Yet, Steelers fans think he's an upgrade over them. Lol.
Good for the boys. They weren't the problem with the Steelers last season.

Sad thing is that Carlos Davis isnt even the best NT in his household. His twin brother is better than him. Kind of a real project IMO.

Subpar QB play wasn't a problem for the Steelers last season? Umm...OK.

are you trolling?
The steelers would make the playoffs with a QB like Ryan Fitzpatrick last year...

He's going to keep banging that drum. If he keeps saying it long enough, Ben will be on Social Security and unable to play.....at which point he will eventually be correct.
He has convinced himself that his alternative universe is reality.
You can't make this shit up.

Oops, went against the narrative and the natives are pissed again. Ben is the bestest best QB in the world and will save the Steelers season in 2020.
We have people on here with expectations that the Offense this season will be Top 10 this season. Optimism is good I guess.

I believe subpar everything was the problem Steelers Offense last season, but it doesn't matter. It's all okay. Ben is back and will fix everything. That's the narrative. It was my mistake for questioning it.

My point is that a healthy Ben is a major difference for the steelers .... If you don't believe me, you probably haven't watched a lot of football since 2004 or you are a true hater.
And what's crazy about being a top 10 offense if Ben is healthy?....Top 10 is nothing extraordinary

I'm crazy to think that a HOF QB makes a big difference, especially if he is healthy ...
If he is healthy and when the rust will gone, our offense should be fine.

You've been questioning "it" for many years now. Eventually, you might be right......but it only means you've been wrong for a decade.
Waiting for Big Ben to physically decay isn't an argument. We all know he's very close to the end of his career. You have been knocking him for many years. When you say that he wouldn't be an improvement over Duck and Reindeer Games, you expose yourself as a hater and a fraud. Nobody is buying your bullshit.
You keep chopping that wood though...

For me it's not about a narrative so much as experience with and without Ben. To say Ben will not make a HUGE impact is just negative and foolish.

Yeah, I can understand those who doubt Roethlisberger after his injury .... Even me I'm not 100% convinced that he will return to the level of the 2017 season, which I want ... But to say that he wouldn't have made a difference between Ben and a QB who was an undrafted rookie for 6 start and a QB who was benched to this undrafted rookie, it's really being a true hater.
No need to go after the 2 extremes!

How about this
-The Steelers offensive struggles had to do with more than just QB struggles. There was blame to go all over the offense.
-It is unclear if Ben will return to form at age 38 coming off an injury
-If Ben does return to form the offense will OBVIOUSLY be better and Ben will OBVIOUSLY make the offense better (OBVIOUSLY)
All three can be right
