Gay thrives in nickel role

After starting 14 games at cornerback in 2009, William Gay has had to accept a reduced role this season.
That hasn't stopped the fourth-year veteran, who was supplanted in the starting lineup by Bryant McFadden, from carving out a valuable role as an extra defensive back in passing situations.
Gay, the Steelers' nickel back, has eight tackles and a sack and been credited with one pass defended. He also is tied for third on the team in special teams tackles (3).
