They put the pen in Bud's hand and had Cam do all the work by picking Bud up and moving him so it made a signature. So predictable.

He had one heck of a year last year but per Dulac, he won't be signing a long term contract so he may see his future replacement being drafted tomorrow or Saturday.

Yeah, it's probably Dupree's last year with the steelers, especially with JuJu and Watt to pay soon....We can't keep everyone

No sacks on this play but amazing pressure against a very good LT.

Though I do believe it's possible to keep Bud long term since Ben and Haden's contract will be off the books after 2021 but I agree with you. The cap would be tight.

I can't imagine the contract Watt will sign. He will easily be highest paid defensive player in the league.

Watt will be the highest paid defensive player in the league but I don't think it will be for long.… Often the player of his caliber who signs after often has a bigger contract after(like the QB market)... And I don't know if I understood correctly or that's what he said, but I think that Dulac said that the steelers will try to give Watt a new contract this year, even with 2 years left ... I don't know if this is the case but if it is, it would be new for steelers since they almost never give a new contract to a player with 2 years left expect for Ben in 2007, but if a player deserves an exception this is him .... We will see.

Good, he's still gonna play hungry for his big payoff as a FA next year, and we don't have a giant hole to fill

win win

I have not been shy about liking what Bud Dupree brings to this defense. Job 1 for any defense, particularly the front 7, is STOP THE RUN! That is Job 1. When you stop the run you force offenses to throw and become one dimensional. One dimensional meaning defenders know where every blocker will be every snap for the most part. You know QB tendencies when things break down. You can overload pressures to force protection moves to make your own mismatches. As I have posted for years I see Dupree as an elite run stopper. At worst he’s a very good run stopper for those that take issue with the word elite. BUT a first round edge rusher that gets to his 5th year option deal without an extension then put on the franchise tag without an extension, Watt will be the priority re-signing, and a high draft pick goes to a player at the same position, safe to say Bud Dupree will not be a Steeler after this year.

Landon Collins in the 1st
Frank Clark- DE Michigan in the 2nd
Steven Nelson- CB Oregon St in the 3rd

I'm a Michigan fan, so it honestly would have been Clark or Eli Harold back then...but I was all over Nelson in the 3rd.

Tomlin tried like crazy to trade up to 33 for Collins. Alas, trading up the year prior (for Landry Jones) took away the draft capital that he needed to pull off the trade.

I know, but I was shocked that Collins wasn't drafted on day 1, so why not pick him at #22 instead? The Kentucky pass rusher that was most impressive in the 2015 draft process was ZaDaruis Smith. MVP of Shrine game and standout at Senior Bowl.

There are many alternative scenarios that would have been awesome.

I know, the funny thing is that its not hindsight for me in this case. I thought Collins was perfect as a round 1 guy. I liked Clark, but with his domestic violence issue the Steelers would not have likely drafted him, so I would have gone Eli Harold and busted, but Steve Nelson was who I wanted in the 3rd.

So for fun, is Dupree, Senquez Golson, Sammie Coates better or worse than Landon Collins, Eli Harold, Steven Nelson? I think I picked better ballers, but then my 4th round pick of Tony Lippett would have been a bust.

Just glad there is no drama this year and that he isn't pulling a Le'Veon. Drafting Highsmith allows them to move on from Dupree and he seems like he needs a year to develop and bulk up so it's perfect timing anyway

Landon Collins is really the only one there I would take over Dupree. Maybe Maxx Williams as a TE need...but still would take Bud in hindsight.

My mock was:

Marcus Peters
Danielle Hunter
Clive Walford
Matt Jones
Quinton Spain
Gerod Holliman

Alas, the TPOP site went kaput; so, I no longer have a link to it. Regardless, IMO Dupree was a good pick who has been fighting injuries. So, I’m fine with it.

For the most part,2015 was a weak draft in the NFL.
