Someone will overpay for him but IMO Rivers has entered the Eli Zone and is done. He did a lot of chuck, duck, and don't get hurt trying to make the tackle on the interception return last season.
It shouldn’t be surprising that the market for a semi-washed veteran is a bit dry.

But there is this rumor

Chargers need a high profile signing to sell tickets for their new stadium. This is going to amp up the Brady to the Chargers rumors.

Vegas could use Brady for the same...

I’d take Rivers over Cam and Winston.

The Bears could do alot worse than even a semi washed up Rivers.

I think he would choose to go to a contender or retire. Are the Colts serious contenders with Rivers at QB? I don't think it makes them a worse team. With the Dak talk are the Cowboys in the conversation? The Bears could become instant NFC contenders with a 'real' QB on that team. Anyone thinking Raiders/Broncos here? I'm kinda leaning toward retirement but it is interesting.

agreed, he’s got a quick release but I never liked his throwing motion not to mention lack of mobility, the chargers made a pretty big mistake in taking rivers over Brees -

As I’ve told Chargers fans for 16 years...
The Chargers could have kept Drew Brees, drafted Larry Fitzgerald (instead of Rivers), and those two would have played alongside of Antonio Gates and LaDainian Tomlinson. :scared: Talk about one of the greatest offensive teams in NFL history.
IMO, that squad would have won two Lombardis (2006, 2007).

With two lombardi’s they’re probably still in San Diego as well

This is so correct, getting rid of Brees ruined them, but worked out for Brees so I guess it is good.

Imagine how Marty Schottenheimer's legacy would have been like with 2 Super Bowls (I assume they keep him following a Super Bowl win in 06).

Maybe... alas, maybe not.
The mayors over the past two decades have been “shoddy” at best.

SCHOTTENHEIMER: Derp, Brees sucks. Cutting him won’t ruin my career. I’m going to go with Philip Rivers.
SABAN: Hold my beer...

You know what... AJ (Smith’s) ego might not have let Marty stay even with two Lombardis. AJ was hell bent on proving that “he” was the genius who constructed that roster... NOT Schottenheimer.

Didn't Marty get fired after going 14-2?

Perhaps,
But after last year's offensive show the Steelers put on, I wouldn't have a problem at all with him being our insurance policy for a year or two (setting aside cap issues, of course).
