View Full Version : What have you done with your 84 jersey?

Just curious... what have you actually done with your 84 jersey if you have/had one?

I couldn’t bring myself to burn a Steelers jersey so I turned it inside out at the beginning of the 2019 season and it remains in that status.

What about you?

P.s. I don’t want to talk about what a nut job he is, just the jersey.

Why would I burn a Randy Grossman jersey. He won 4 Super Bowls?

Never bought one. I only own two Steelers jerseys. One has the number 43 and the other has the number 58. AB was not a defensive legend so his jersey could never be in my closet.

They(I have two) are boxed up. I'll never get rid of them.

AB, despite his issues as of late is still one of the best to ever play in the Steelers uniform. Every Sunday besides week 17 of the 2018 season he showed up ready to play and put on a show.

Thankfully bought a Conner jersey instead. It was a choice between that or 84

If I did have one, I'd probably jack my dick on its back and throw it away lol

The Steelers really just need to bite the bullet and sign another receiver (or TE) named Brown and give him #84. Then everyone could just carry on like nothing happened.

That was the plan (in last year’s draft) that a lot of us wanted to occur. Really. No joke.

So my son has one and he’s 10. He won’t wear it and has since opted for a Bettie Jersey. He doesn’t want to get rid of the Brown jersey (bumblebee) and he doesn’t want to remove the name off the back because he feels that the time AB was in Pittsburgh, AB was the best player in the league and he was a great Steelers player. He enjoyed watching him and that’s why he wants to keep it but now that “frozen feet” has gone off the deep end, he feels now isn’t the best time to wear it but he didn’t say he wouldn’t wear it in the future. By that time it’ll be too small.

I tend to feel the same way. AB as a Steeler on that field was CRAZY GOOD and although I don’t wear jerseys much, if at all, I would wear an AB jersey as a throwback 5-10 years from now because that guy was lights out on the field. It’s ironic because now the lights have gone out in his head...

I've had three over the years.....a #12 Bradshaw (loved this guy so much I it's what i used for my youngest son's middle name). A #95 Lloyd. My second favorite Steeler linebacker of all time, right be Lambert. And, and I kinda hate to admit this. A #10 Stewart Jersey. I don't know what I was thinking. I remember wearing that jersey with a bunch of friends during the game it zoomed of him crying on the sidelines. Man....that was rough. I ended up burning it after he was released/cut/traded or whatever.
So back to the point of this post...if I had a Brown jersey, I'd sacrifice to the fire gods too.

When I was little, I got a Bradshaw jersey... and then, he got injured.

After high school, I got a Lloyd jersey... and then, he got injured.

Then, I got a Kirkland jersey... and then, he got cut.

Later, I got a Zereoué jersey... and then, he got cut.

My daughter got a Heeeeath jersey... and then, he retired.

My daughter then got an AB jersey... and then... well...

SUMMATION:
I just bought my daughter a Fichtner jersey. :wink02:

Didn't have his jersey although I do have a personalized autograph from him on an 8 x 10. Got it when I met him at Station Square his rookie year. It's packed away with the rest of my things right now due to moving from PA to MO. Not sure what I'll do with it once I get my new man cave done and my things unpacked. I can say for sure it's not going on display.

Correct.

To ignore his elite talent is a huge mistake. A WR doesn't catch all those passes for all those yards and all those TD's over that many seasons by accident. He is clearly an elite WR that had a great QB to get him the ball. The results were historically great.

When I was very young, I loved OJ. He’s still one of the greatest RBs to ever play in the NFL. Aaaand... he’s a horrible human being. It is indeed possible to be both.

No he was made by Ben.
Regardless of how minimal the sample size is or was, Brown without Ben he looked invisible with the EXCEPTION of 1 game against KC in 2015 I believe.
Not disagreeing with how they complimented one another because they did.
But facts are facts, and one of the select few of times where numbers make sense.
What happened Holmes when he left? one good season with the Jets annnnndddd... ... ...
Mike Wallace? Got paid so good on him; but he's played for 1/4 of the league now I think

But both those guys became huge because of Ben as did Brown.

Its no secret that WR's cannot throw the football to themselves. Any WR needs a good QB to be able to get him the ball and that is why guys like Holmes and Wallace didn't have the success at the teams they went to. Same with Emannuel Sanders, he had his best 3 seasons in the NFL with the Broncos where he could be the #2WR, with a HOF QB throwing him the football.

As for the jersey, I would change it to a Buddy Dial.

the best thing that could happen would be for AB to truly change his ways, do a complete 180, be like a philanthropist, take a team friendly contract and finish his career with the Steelers (while he can still play)

I know it’ll probably never happen though

100%
But that was my point. If said receiver doesn't have that QB to get him the ball the rest is mostly irrelevant.
I'm well aware there's other factors for receivers such as the height which can mask a QBs ineffectiveness.
But the fact that Ben made the smaller guys stars should say something to his talent level too

here's hoping #84 gets used quickly like 26 was for Barron this past year
