During the game last night, I was concerned when Al Michaels explained the beard on Ben, who now has a face with the dimensions of a large pie, will not be cut until Ben starts throwing again, which is not imminent.

After going back to an article (paywalled) last September interviewing Jake Delhomme, who may have undergone similar elbow surgery (although who knows since nothing has been disclosed about the exact nature of Ben's procedure), it may not be time to worry unless there is no indication any throwing has been attempted by late winter

Not only did Delhomme fully recover from his elbow surgery, it was a rapid recovery. Delhomme was throwing a Nerf football within four months and cleared to play within seven months after what he called an “extremely easy rehab,” to the point where the most significant issue he dealt with was boredom.

OTOH I guess Ben cannot get on a treadmill or do any other cardio because swinging his right arm while walking could damage the elbow :noidea:

 No question Ben has been doing some table time. I think they should get a decent vet back-up, just-in-case.

Honestly I think he's growing the beard out to mask a double chin :chuckle:

If I were an athlete living in Pittsburgh I don't know if I'd ever eat out at the restaurants there. In 3-4 days I probably gained 7 lbs there eating roethlisburgers (both times i had one, i literally couldnt eat anything else all day, it was that filling) and primanti sandwiches lol

That's what everyone does in Pittsburgh. I get back home once a year and all my family and friends want to do is go out and eat!

Cam Newton and Dalton might both be available.

I think Ben is merely hedging his bets. If for some reason, the elbow doesn't recover the way he expects, he can use his backup plan to become our next swing tackle next year since he's rapidly eating his way to three bills ...

Leave Ben alone. He's got an artistic side.

Even Dalton could lead this team with that defense to the Super Bowl.

Ben's 05 playoff beard was small time compared to this. He went full lumberjack. Give that man his blue ox back

I think he and Keisel are going to “Shear the Beard” together.

Sure he’s probably gained some weight. He’s also wearing three winter coats because of the weather...lol.
