View Full Version : Kevin Colbert isn't getting enough credit for this year

He pulled a big trade trading up for Devin Bush and managing to do so without giving up a 2020 1st, then keeping that 2020 1st he then pulled off the trade for Fitzpatrick.

I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that without Fitzpatrick and Bush, all other things remaining constant, this team is 2-9 while losing by double digit points with wins against the Chargers, Colts, Rams, and Bengals turning into loss. We all know about Fitzpatrick's impact and Bush has also made multiple game-changing plays throughout the year (the strip on Tyler Boyd being one example).

Enjoy him while you can

Panthers owner David Tepper (Pittsburgh native and former Steelers minority owner) is going to blow up the Panthers coaching staff and front office

Colbert is not under contract after this season and Tepper may make him an offer too good to pass up

One thing is for sure. Last year, if the opposing offense dialed up a play that isolated a WR on our inside LBs, it is a big gain or maybe a TD. Today, Bush got isolated on Boyd, but he was able to stay close enough to him to make a play. Boyd caught the ball, but Bush was fast enough, athletic enough, and played with savy and awareness to strip the ball out of his hand after a catch that Fitzpatrick recovered and returned for a huge play.

That play doesn't happen unless Colbert moves up to get Bush.

Getting Minkah has just been off the charts great for this team. It was a masterstroke as far as adding the perfect piece to the existing talent. An absolute homerun.

Plus...

...a R3 & a R5 for AB.

I 100% agree. I know he got a lot of criticism for the AB deal, but in retrospect, it did up giving us enough draft capital that we were willing to move up to get Bush.

Well other than Bush, Minkah, and those draft picks for a guy that may never play another down in the NFL....he hasn't done much in the past year.

That would be a HUGE loss, it was bad enough losing Munch last season, I don't even want to think about possibly losing Colbert. He may not be perfect but he's a damn sure better than most.

Yesterday the second highest rusher and the second highest receiver in yards were just on other teams practice squads last week. The QB that finished (and won) the game was a D3 QB at Samford last year.

What Colbert and Tomlin have been doing this season has been pretty remarkable. The skill positions on offense have been decimated yet they are still getting reasonable (not great) production out of it. If the O-Line could return to 2017-18 form, this team could win a game in the playoffs...

That... or, he retires.

The Steelers head of scouting is ready to take over. He was adamant about trading for Fitzpatrick.

Between him & Omar Khan, we should be in good hands.

That’s what I thought about the guy taking over for Munch. Lol.
