View Full Version : Antonio Brown to Ben Roethlisberger: Shut up already

Antonio Brown replaced barbs directed toward the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger with frostbitten feet and helmet grievances this summer, but he’s back to playing the hits now that the latter two fronts have quieted down.
During an interview with Michelle Tafoya for the Sunday Night Football telecast of the Steelers’ game against the Titans, Roethlisberger again said that he regretted calling Brown out publicly after a loss to the Broncos last season.
“Obviously it ruined a friendship,” Roethlisberger said

So AB admits that he’s a liar and will pretend to be friendly with someone just to make money.
Is Derek Carr paying attention? Are the rest of AB’s teammates extrapolating logical conclusions from this?
He’s telling them not to EVER trust him. Big Ben is being as kind and thoughtful as ANYONE would be in this situation. If he’ll turn on a guy like Big Ben, he’ll turn on you too.
What an unbelievable narcissistic asshole!

You can't inherit CTE. And, while the only way to diagnose it is through an autopsy, I'd be shocked if it came back as anything else. He seems almost the textbook case. Changing attitude, changing demeanor, etc. etc.

I made this thread in this section because Brown talked about Roethlisberger ... If it would have been because of his helmet or anything else, it would have been in the NFL section.

I said it at the time of the trade, and I’ll iterate it now: there were legitimate reasons why only the Raiders (and the Bills) offered anything for AB.
As in: Colbert getting a R3 & a R5 was about all that he was going to get.

On the Stinking Truth Podcast Mark Schlereth said he has talked with many players from around the league(Steelers and exSteelers) that say this AB stuff we see is barely scratching the surface of his antics. None of this is new. I was thinking maybe brain damage as well but others have come out and said this is just who he is. Ryan Clark said AB wasn't right before he even earned a starting role.

Brown has not enough blame for the way it ended with the steelers
It's Ben taking all the heat on that, but I think Brown would have leave no matter what because he wanted a raise in his contract and Brown had way too many incident last year, even before Ben Called Brown out!...Locker room was toxic in the last 2 seasons(at least) for the steelers too.

MIKE (TOMLIN): This is a professional courtesy. No one knows I’m here. But, Art II would find out, like he always does, and if you get arrested, he’d take that as a problem. AB, you got a good thing here with Ben. We all do. You want to risk it all... for what? I realize you have a history of being an asshole, but you’re on the bubble right now. And, it’s been a long time coming.
AB: What is?
MIKE (Tomlin): I used to be a Secondary Coach a long time ago. Now I'd call out blitzes all the time, hundreds probably over the years. But there was this one guy, this one piece of shit, that I will never forget: Jon Gruden. He looked like Chucky. You remember him? “Child’s Play"? You don't remember? Anyway, big ego. But his DC, or whatever he was, was really stupid. Anyway, I get called out there every weekend and I would pull him aside and say 'C'mon, tonight's the night. PRESS COVERAGE.' And this wasn't one of those "deep down he really loves ZONE COVERAGE" set ups, we get a lot of those, but not this. This guy was just stupid. He wasn't gonna cross Gruden no way, no how. Nothing we could do but pass him off to ESPN, put him in the highlights, he sleeps it off, next morning out he goes, back to crappy defenses. One night, the play-call comes in and it's the usual crap. Broken coverages kinda thing. So I cuff him, put him in the car and away we go. Only that night, we're driving into town, and this sideways asshole is in my backseat humming "Danny Boy." Heh. And it just rubbed me wrong. So instead of left, I go right, out into nowhere, and I kneel him down and I put my revolver in his mouth and I told him, "This is it. This is how it ends." And he's crying, going to the bathroom all over himself, swearing to God he's gonna play more PRESS COVERAGE, screaming as much as you can with a gun in your mouth. And I told him to be quiet and I needed to think about what I was gonna do here. And, of course, he got quiet. Goes still and real quiet, like a Warren Sapp waiting for dinner scraps. And we just stood there for a while, me acting like I'm thinking things over and this DC kneeling in the dirt with shit in his pants. After a few minutes, I took the gun out of his mouth and I say, 'So help me if you ever call ZONE COVERAGE again and such and such and such and such and blah blah blah blah blah.'
AB: Just a warning?
MIKE (TOMLIN): Of course. Just trying to do the right thing. But two weeks later, Chucky cut Keyshawn. Of course. The moral of the story is I chose a half measure when I should have gone all the way. I'll never make that mistake again. No. More. Half. Measures, AB... you’ve been traded to the Raiders!!!

The Raiders can cut after this year and but they will save very little ... If the Brown Raiders cut after 2020, their dead cap is going to be very low, so if he is cut, it'll be after the 2020 season, unless if Gruden is sick and tired with Brown like that had already been the case for him with Keyshawn Johnson in 2003.
