LATROBE — The Steelers are more than halfway through training camp at Saint Vincent College and there’s been little to no drama to report.

In Napa, Calif., meanwhile, the Raiders are still waiting on Antonio Brown to take part in his first practice of their training camp. This, after Brown arrived in a hot air balloon.

Talk about your symbolism.

Brown is a great football player. One of the best to play the receiver position in NFL history.

But there’s a sense at Steelers training camp this team could be better off without the mercurial star. Everybody seems happy. Everyone seems to be on the same page. Everyone is rowing the boat in the same direction.

Now, that might only last as long as the team doesn’t go into a losing spiral as it did in the second half of last season. But right now? This is as quiet a Steelers camp in memory.

• About the most controversial thing to come out of Saint Vincent College in the past week and a half has been something defensive coordinator Keith Butler told me.

When I asked Butler if he hears the criticism that comes from fans, he replied, “I’m 63-years old. If they fire me, so what? I’ll go play golf.

So is AB being AB and ghosting practice or is he missing practice legitimately and media is trying to make a story out of a non story?

Too quiet? Is that code for "We want some juicy drama to cover, I need work you know!". This kind of quiet, is never too quiet

Yeah, I like this is better when it's quiet like that ... No drama ... Let's hope it's going to continue for the season, but it's a good start ... No steelers wrote anything of stupid on Twitter since the beginning of the training camp too.

Who really cares? He's not our problem anymore.

I will add this - Just a few days ago Gruden was disappointed that AB was a no-show so that alone should tell you something. Sure they will make an excuse, but if it was legit wouldn't the coach know???

Keep it nice and quiet...especially the injury reports.

I agree: too quiet.

I was looking forward to some players smoking weed, being accused of rape, and/or murdering their ex-wives and driving away in white Broncos.

You know: back when football was “football”.

He’s missing practice for legit foot issues but not sure why he’s not showing up anyway...just to be around the team.

Was talking to someone the other day who said he was having surgery on it. That could be the reason. Again, this is AB. No matter the issue, one thing you can't accuse him of is a poor work ethic.
