It seemed like a curious comment coming from a quarterback entering his 16th NFL season who has won two Super Bowls and owns every significant team passing record.
“I feel like I love football again,” Ben Roethlisberger said.
It was the “again” part that merited an explanation.
“I don’t know if I can put my finger on a particular reason, but it just feels that way,” Roethlisberger said Thursday at Steelers training camp in Latrobe.
“I always love doing it, but I think loving it but having fun doing it, I think a lot of things can contribute to it. You get a rejuvenated feel at this point in your career. You can either just go through the motions or you get it going. I feel like I got it going.”
A lot of people are noticing, including his teammates.......

• There also has been easy and regular on-field interaction between Roethlisberger and teammates, particularly the wide receivers. He just seems comfortable with his role on this team, engaged and yet relaxed. He’s not the only one, but it’s also true that on a football team other players have a tendency to take a cue from the quarterback.
• There have been transformative training camps in recent Steelers history, camps that set a tone and established a mind-set for a season that was in all ways positive. This has the makings of one of those. And it’s becoming more clear every day why Coach Mike Tomlin chose to use the word “cleanse” in talking about it.

He admits here to "trying to bait". Why is he allowed to do this job any longer. A detriment to the team obviously.

Remember when Bud Dupree was upset at Kaboly when Kaboly said that JuJu's comments were like a jab at Antonio Brown (when JuJu said he was more focused on wins than on stats or something like that) even if JuJu had not said a single word on Antonio Brown.

I'm pretty sure that reporters are supposed to bait those being interviewed into saying things off script.
As for Ben, translation: I'm having fun because the headache is gone.

Don't get me wrong AB was a great WR but, when he was not making the big plays he acted like a spoiled brat! Throwing gator-aid bucket and, having several meltdowns on the sidelines. I'm sure Ben could have even a better season than last years. Knowing that the two pains of these team are gone!

Cowherd would also work in something about how John Wall is a bad leader and anyone who doesn’t invest in land is a moron.

One thing I can say is that Roethlisberger loved Mike Wallace more than Antonio Brown, even though Brown was the best player between his two in their prime....I heard a lot more often Ben praised Wallace during his years in Pittsburgh, more often than with Antonio Brown. He was more friend and more close with Wallace than he was with Brown.Even when Wallace left the Steelers, Ben was worried and had been complimentary to Wallace...

and even a few years later, Wallace said he loved Roethlisberger a lot, so it's not true that all his WRs who played with Roethlisberger hated him!

So yes Brown was the best WR that Roethlisberger played with, but he was more friend and had more fun with Wallace.
