Good luck with that Melvin. You don't have close to the production or reputation Le'Veon had in Pittsburgh, and yet did you see how Le'Veon's shenanigans didn't work out for him?

Just throw furniture off the roof and gatorade coolers in preseason, Melvin. Then you can play w/Chucky, AB and Richie went Incognito for a few games.

yeah, Gordon also might not want to use Todd Gurley as an example of why he should be getting paid.

I actually have no problem with Gordon's tactics, at least at this early stage. It's his only leverage and RBs don't play long or get paid well, comparatively. As for the Bell comparison, Bell was offered a handsome contract and still chose to hold out. That's when I'd have a problem with Gordon, if he did the same. I think the Chargers will pay him. If not, it'll be interesting.........

I just watched the Gordon's stats in his career ... Great season in 2018, but before that,he was nothing special .... Every season before 2018 he was below 4.0 YPC .... That's true that 2 of his years, he had Mike McCoy as HC, which was garbage, since he was too predictable and almost every run play was in the middle, but even the first season without McCoy,he was not very good ....
Last year, it was his first very good season as RB.

I do not think Gordon is a great back (probably last year but not for the 3 years before) but we have seen a lot in the past a team losing his star RB , but continue to be productive in offense ... Unfortunately for its RB, they are the most replaceable position in the NFL, one of the reasons why they are not paid as much like the others positions.

It's official
Gordon is dumb and has no leverage ... I mean, he does not have the reputation that Bell had in Pittsburgh and Bell's holdout was far from being a financially win for Bell ... Also Bell did not get the contract that he thought he could have on the open market and he was even lucky since he had only one GM that was ready to give a big contract like that to Bell ... No other GM was ready to give a contract close to that and this GM was fired 2 months later!
I do not think Gordon will be lucky as Bell especially that Gordon only has 1 great season (last year) in 4 seasons.

This is stupid, I can understand the 'want' for more money, but thy need to think with their heads. NBA rosters aren't 53 players big, and players in the NFL don't play 100 games a season. If they're playing for the money they got into the wrong sport.

And Superstars in the NFL(outside of the QB position) are not important like the NBA.

The Chargers offer Gordon 10 million per year and they are not close to an agreement
The best chance for Gordon to have a big contract is to play and have a monster season and your chances of having a big contract will be better .... If Gordon does not play this year, he'll be a forgotten player and next year he may not even be close to having the contract that the Chargers have offered him even on the open market especially since Gordon only had one great season in his career.

If I have to bet, I do not think Gordon will have 10 million per year on the open market, unless Gordon decides to play and has a monster season.

Melvin Gordon reacts to Philip Rivers’ comments
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers got extremely close to, if not on the wrong side of, the line that warns football players not to get between a teammate and his money. The subject of the remarks, Chargers running back Melvin Gordon, noticed. And reacted.
“Wild right!” Gordon said in response to Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu‘s one word response (“DAMN“) to our tweet linking to the article containing Rivers’ remarks.
Meanwhile, some have suggested that Rivers’ remarks were twisted in our tweet that characterized him as saying, “We love Melvin Gordon, but running back is a deep position for us.” Here’s what Rivers said: “It certainly is a deep position for us, and those guys all love to play and work hard. We love Melvin, but we’re going to go with what we’ve got. It’s a pretty dang good group.”
Actually, the exact words used by Rivers — “We love Melvin, but we’re going to go with what we’ve got” — are stronger than the “We love Melvin, but running back is a deep position for us” tweet. “We’re going to go with what we’ve got” is basically an indication that the on-field leader of the team isn’t bothered by the fact that Gordon isn’t there. So why should the team blink?

Personally, I have no problem with the comments of Rivers on Gordon and on his running back .... I also had no problem with comments that Ben often made about Conner in the Bell situation last year.

Ekeler would be a stud in PPR leagues, though I would still worry that Justin Jackson takes carries, especially around the goalline away from him.

Some media will say that if the Chargers struggle it's going to be because the chargers did not want to pay Gordon (even if they offered 10 million per year), even if they have several other problems and differences with last year
Same thing with the steelers without Bell ... The media ignore that the steelers also had Ryan Shazier in 2017 and Boswell was clutch in 2017 (a big reason why the steelers had been 8-2 in one score game) and awful in the clutch in 2018.

Who'll prove doubters wrong in 2019?
Melvin Gordon, running back, Los Angeles Chargers: The most disrespected running back in football has heard all the shots lobbed in his direction. Yes, Philip Rivers recently voiced his support for the 26-year-old back, but the QB's initial comments back in July -- "We love Melvin, but we're going to go with what we've got. It's a pretty dang good group." -- made Gordon get mad online. The two-time Pro Bowler will eventually enjoy the last laugh when opponents change their defensive approach with Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson on the field extensively. Yes, I know the Chargers went 4-0 in games Gordon missed last season, but don't let that mask the difference between Gordon and his understudies. The former first-round pick is the only NFL running back with at least 10 scrimmage touchdowns in each of the past three seasons. He has also surpassed 1,300 scrimmage yards in each of those years. The Chargers can win some games without No. 28 on the field, but they won't contend for a title without the versatile running back playing a leading role.

Yeah, it's a good team, but if this defense can't play man to man defense and play the zone against QBs like Brady as they do in the playoffs last January, they have no chance....
Also, the other major problem of the Chargers, they have no homefield advantage!
Hard to win, when every game is like a road games!
