And this is not the first time....It also happens to the jets this year and to the bills and panthers couple years ago too.

Texans are an unstable organization - O’Brien seems to constantly be on the hot seat and now this.
Players were not pleased that then owner Bob McNair made clear that the players should just play & otherwise keep quiet - after McNair died in late 2018 (his son allegedly has taken on a bigger role in recent years) ongoing power struggles result in the GM getting shoved out as collateral damage after only one year in the job

O’Brien wants Patriots guys to run his personnel shop. Couldn’t get them last time. Gonna take another run.

It amazes me that Bill O Brien has so much power while accomplishing so little as a head coach

"Texans GM Rumors: Houston might poach Bill Belichick's right-hand man from Patriots front office
Nick Caserio has become the top target for the Texans in their new GM search
Jun 10, 2019 at 12:28 pm ET
The timing of the Texans firing GM Brian Gaine was odd (https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/texans-surprisingly-fire-general-manager-brian-gaine-less-than-18-months-after-hiring-him/), with the team getting through free agency and the draft and then unceremoniously dumping him on a Friday in June. Just about everyone thought there might be more to this story and it appears there is, with Houston targeting one of Bill O'Brien's old pals in New England for the GM role.
Nick Caserio is listed by the Patriots (https://www.patriots.com/team/front-office-roster/nick-caserio) as the Director of Pro Personnel, a role he's held since 2008, but he's essentially the team's general manager, only he's not holding a traditional GM role because of the power that Bill Belichick wields in the Patriots (https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/NE/new-england-patriots/) organization.
Caserio could soon become the next Texans GM (https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/heres-the-patriots-executive-the-texans-could-target-as-their-next-general-manager/). At the very least he's their top target, according to a report from Mark Berman of FOX 26, who reports that Caserio has become the top target (https://twitter.com/MarkBermanFox26/status/1137783068184461312) for the Texans in their GM search."
