There was a pretty good interview on NFL Network last night with Cowher, Polamalu and Atwater. Cowher and Polamalu spoke about how Troy would change the backend coverages on the fly and not tell Cowher during the game. In Cover 2 he would come up as the 8th man in the box when he was supposed to have his half of the field but as he ran up, he’d tell Townsend to cover that half. Cowher had no clue and would be screaming at Troy that he was in the wrong defense. Troy would brush him off then make the play in the backfield...

I had the great pleasure and privilege to sit between him and Will Gay in a golf cart at Farrior’s fund raiser. They had me laughing for ten minutes while our group waited for the group in front to clear the fairway. They said they knew nothing about the game of golf but that it was tons of fun to come out and yuk it up with the people that were playing, and anything Potsie wanted they would do. Super low key humble guys. Even let me try on their SB rings. This was the summer after the Steelers vs Cardinals SB. Taylor said he left the catching to Gay. I guess he knew his shortcomings.

It really was almost one of those “pinch myself” kind of weekends. Farrior grew up in the Richmond area, and his brother ran his foundation, and several years he put on a charity weekend fund raiser which included a casino night on Friday night, (I wish I had a video of Big Snack).A golf outing on Saturday, and either a bowling outing or a softball game at our minor league field on Sunday against some of the locals mixed in. Incredible fundraiser. I don’t know if Potsie told all of his guys talk to people because they are making donations, or because they are just great guys, (I like to think the latter), but I had one on one conversations with the majority of the defense, including Hampton....that was mostly about where the next food station was. Even had a chance to talk with Charlie Batch.....class guy. Could go on and on. It was just a chance that not a lot of fans get and they didn’t disappoint.

They settled for a field goal. Par was too scared to try the play once he saw Troy bounce into the C-gap. Here, Pat thought he was going to score a touchdown - a fucking touchdown in his hometown for his team, then Troy ran over to cover the gap. His heart was shattered, because he now knew it would never happen!!!
