More Mayfield
Baker Mayfield is doing nothing to dial down his punk persona.
In an ESPN interview, the Browns quarterback reiterated how much he enjoyed beating his former coach Hue Jackson, calling it “revenge.”
Revenge? For what? Taking a different job after he got fired? Look, I’m no Hue fan either. But the revenge angle is a little misplaced, Baker.
Then he ripped the Giants, by way of trying to stick up for new wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
“He’s here to work, and he wants to be surrounded by people who love him and support him and allow him to be himself,” Mayfield said. “He’s here to play in front of fans who actually care, who will actually show up to every game and pack the stadium and love him for who he is.”
The Giants were fourth in overall attendance last year, but sold only 93.3% of their seats, good for just 25th. Cleveland, by the way, was 18th in attendance, with 97.5% of seats sold (17th).
Either way, boy, it’s going to be fun to see the Steelers beat Mayfield again in 2019.
If they can. And I’m not sure if they can.

Not really. It’s a calculated move by Mayfield to show respect and support towards his new teammate (who is bitter towards the old team)...granted at the expense of the Giants organization and their fan base but what does he care? He faces the Giants once every four years and chances it is in NY? Beckham thinks the kid is sticking up for him and strengthens their bond.

You aren't worried... are you? The Browns have a leader that hates to lose. He's young, brash and full of confidence.... just what they need to turn the culture around. They also have a lot of young talent. Do I think they will win the division?.... no. Do I think they are an up and coming force?... you bet! Do I think it's a good thing?.... absolutely!. You should too.

I've been talking to several fans on Twitter for 1-2 weeks and I can say that the Browns fan are really disconnected of the reality...And one said that Mayfield is loved by everyone in the locker room that it has never been the case for Roethlisberger
Someone should wait more than one season before saying that .... When Mayfield is going to have adversity and don't change his attitude as trash talker, let's see if he'll be loved by everyone in the locker room again.
4 turnovers games like he did in Oakland last year will not be accepted this year by the media, fan and teammates.

Brinson: "Browns Talking Too Much" This Offseason
From OBJ to Baker Mayfield, the Browns have fired a lot of shots this offseason, and Will Brinson has no idea why
From Odell Beckham Jr. taking shots at his former team, to Baker Mayfield taking shots at Daniel Jones, the Cleveland Browns have done a lot of talking this offseason.
And CBSSports.com senior NFL writer Will Brinson has no idea why.
“It just seems to me that the Browns have made a pretty big habit this offseason of unnecessarily firing shots at the Giants,” Brinson said on Reiter Than You. “I get that Odell Beckham was traded there, but . . . their identity is like this blue-collar, up-and-coming tough team, (and it’s) sort of been cast aside.”
Mayfield, when asked about Daniel Jones, said he “couldn’t believe” the Giants took the Duke product with the sixth overall pick.
“I love Baker Mayfield. He’s great,” Brinson said. “But do you really need two back-to-back GQ issues? Do you really need to be on every single magazine cover? I understand where you’re trying to get the publicity while you can, but it feels to me like the Browns would have been better-served by working through this offseason, getting the new coach in there, trying to get their first winning season in forever, try to get past winning eight games in three years – and it almost feels like a coronation offseason, when there hasn’t been anything that’s really happened to warrant them getting that crown.”

The more of this stuff I see, the more I want the Browns to do really well. Obviously not too well...
...but grumpy old sports guys just like to suck the fun out of everything.

If the Browns have a fast start and they have not too much adversity, they will be fine
But if they have a slow start, I do not think they'll react well in adversity ... I mean, they've put too much pressure on themselves and OBJ seems not to be happy to have been traded in Cleveland ... He still talks about this trade, 5 months later!
His two teams are different but remember in 2011, when Vince Young called eagles the Dream team! ... It's the worst thing which could happen to the eagles, they had 8-8 in 2011 (they were 4-8 before winning 4 pointless games) and the year after Andy Reid lost his job ... The Eagles had made the playoffs in 9 of 11 years before ... Not easy to play well when the hype is very high and it's even worse when the team puts too much pressure on themselves

I hope the Browns go 3-13. In the past I felt sorry for them, but this is way too much talk for a team that went 7-9 last year.

I went the opposite way. Up until now I've rooted for them. I respected the team and fans for losing as much as they have and still showing up on Sundays. Now they need to be humbled.

100% agree!...The Browns fans on twitter for the most part are really not humble and they need to come back to reality!
