It's true that Ward did not have the best stats in the world, even if his stats were very good, but he was in a run first team for the most part of his career, especially in his prime and our QBs were not a strength for the first half of his career. No doubt he would have had much better number if he had been drafted in a team like the Colts.

Also, he was great in the playoffs ... When his career was over he was like in the top 3 or very close to that in several categories like yards, TD and catch.

He was also a team player and a leader who was very important for the steelers who participated at 3 super bowl in his career .... He deserves to be more considered than that.

Ward will be in the hall of fame. 100%. Maybe not on his first year, but he'll get in.

Hines Ward is a top 5 Steelers' WR all time. He's a fan favorite and one of the more respected football players by his peers, or at least they claim they respect him. But the HoF is not supposed to be a popularity contest. However, Gil Brandt has Hines Ward listed in his top30 greatest NFL WRs of all time. Ahead of both Swann and Stallworth btw. Even ahead of Biletnikoff and Monk. That's ranked ahead of 4 WRs already in the HoF, granted from a much earlier era. Ward's stats puts him into the conversation for enshrinement. I believe he does eventually get in. Either way he's still an all time Steelers great.
