According to Peter King on Football Night in America stated that Ben took full credit for not being voted a captain of the team. He stated Ben looked at the T.V. looked back and stated that he brought it on himself.
That's what I would expect to hear from Ben, and I can't wait to get him back under center!!!

Yeah, I just saw that. Sounds like he's grown up a lot of over the past few months.

I'm glad that so far it seems Ben is finally growing up. Time will still tell and I'm pulling for him!

Exactly. I am not ready to wipe the slate clean with him. However, it DOES seem that he has finally come to understand what the words, "Personal Responsibility" mean. That will go a LONG ways for the young man... and may be the last piece needed to actually make Ben take that last step as a QB to reach his potential.
And yeah, I DONT BELIEVE Ben has hit is potential yet.

Scary thought for the rest of the league.

It is... and that is part of the reason why I am absolutely OK with what Der Kommisar did.
Obviously, I don't like Good-deal. But what he did for Ben, may just be the final kick in the butt he needed to take that last step... where he takes responsbility for all his actions, and realizes just how much his actions affect everyone else... including extending plays, when to throw the ball away and when not, locker room stuff (which he has been straightening out for a couple years now), etc.
It is going to be a great ride when Ben comes back if what we are seeing now is who he really is!

I'll believe it when Ben goes an offseason without crap. He's not out of my doghouse yet.

Eh I let him out of the dog house, but he hasn't gained my trust back yet. I trust him with a night on the town about as much as I trust Vick to dog sit.

I'll go with the mantra forgive and forget. Who am I to judge him anyways? He's doing what he needs to do to rectify his mistakes. I am grateful for that. At least he isn't in jail or dead or anyone else for that matter.

While I agree it hasn't been proven that he did anything criminal, you have to admit he has acted boorish, at best. For someone in his position, he needs to be concerned about public image.
I hope this is the smack to the face that grounds him.
I look forward to having him in the black & gold for many more years.

I'm starting to come around to your way of thinking on this, Preacher. The suspension may have been the best thing that could have happened to Ben. Although it's easy for me to say that when we're 3-0. :chuckle:

Whether or not what HMFIC bad-deal did helps Ben grow up or not, there's not denying to was personal! Why else keep him away from the team. Name me just one other suspended player past or present who's been told he was not allowed to be around the team during his suspension. Ben was used as an example, then the example hasn't been followed since. It's all BS!

That is NFL policy. If a player is suspended for violating the personal conduct policy, he is not allowed any contact with the team. Der Kommissar was just following the rules in this case, though I still think it's BS.

^^This. :drink:
Our Ben seems to be well on his way to finally growing up and taking responsibility for his fubars. It takes a big person to admit they screwed up and he is well on his way to earning back my respect.

True that anyone who violate the steroid policy or the personal conduct policy aren't allowed to go to the team facility or have contact with the team during their suspensions. But guess who's allowed because it was "drug" related, but I would think that would also fall under personal conduct. Santonio isn't banned from the team's headquarters while he serves a four-game suspension for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy. He's been allowed to work out at the Jets' training complex and attends team meetings. He doesn't participate in practice sessions and doesn't have contact with coaches. But he isn't kept away like Ben is and in my book, the substance abuse policy should be about personal conduct as well!
(don't mind me, I'm miffed over the the BS)

Hey, you're preaching to the choir. The rules should apply to everyone - either they're all allowed limited contact with the team or they aren't. No different rules for different situations.

Frankly, the issue is closed to me. We have one more game w/out Ben and we'll be at least 3-1. Many here would've been ecstatic if we were told we'd be 3-1 during these 4 games. For dumbass Peter King to bring up this non-story is a waste of time. We need to concentrate on the Raisins now because they are coming to Heinz Field to a pissed off defense with a chip on its shoulder.

Sounds like he's learned from his mistakes and I'm ready for him to come back. Even with a 3-0 start, I still miss seeing him in the back field.

The prob. however, is that suspensions due to drugs are covered by the CBA and as such, the NFLPA has basically mandated that they be dealt with differently. Like it or hate it, that is a union issue, not a choice by Der Kommisar.

Don't even get me going about the union that wasn't there for him!

The story I heard was that Ben refused union representation.
