Dumoulin is still "day to day", but was a full participant in practice... Hopefully he'll be ready to go.

off to a bad start, down 2-0.
These guys look totally flat. I'd be surprised if they win one game. It's as if they don't even want to be there. Very lackluster performance yesterday. Disappointing.

I held out hope but this team just seems to come out flat. It seems that the isles have their number this post season.

The Islanders look faster on the ice. Also I think Islanders head coach Barry Trotz (who was with the Capitals last year) has figured this team out

Well, the fucking Penguins got swept.
At least they didn't get swept after tying an NHL record for wins in a season like Tampa Bay just did

Ugh.
Living in the St Louis area I can only hope the Blues lose their series now too.

Nothing lasts forever and the Pens had several bad to awful stretches this season - so it was not a Tampa Bay level collapse that will be infamous. They arguably played their best when Letang & Malkin were out in March and listened to Sullivan telling them to be disciplined - once those two returned all the bad habits returned (particularly with Letang, who was horrible during the playoffs due to lingering injury or just refusing to be more under control))
At least the Crosby/Malkin era got the two Cups in 2016 & 2017 to go with the 2009 Cup - if not the post-2009 teams would be regarded as underperformers like the Ben/AB/Bell era Steelers

Playing 100+ games per year several years in a row takes its toll. I'm glad Ovenchicken won't be hoisting the cup again this year, at least.
