Under normal circumstances, a team doesn’t even want to remember the name of its backup quarterback. The only good time for him to be in the game is when the offense has blown out your opponent and you pull your starter, with the backup doing little more to hand the ball off to whoever your third-string running back is.

At least Mason is taking some initiative. Good on him.

It's going to be a two-man race for future Steelers QB.

I believe Ben worked with Whitfield early in his career.

That's good. Art won't hire a coach focused solely on QBs so it's good that he's working with someone

I thought Ben was taking him under his wing and mentoring him???

Smart kid and motivated. I love his attitude, but wasnt a fan of a few things of his mechanics and hopefully his QB coach helped him with that. He will be the #2 this season and hopefully the future when the time comes.

Is there any confirmation that is who Rudolph is working with, or is it just speculation? Maybe I missed something, but I cant find that on the internet.

I don't believe Mason named the coach.

I can't find it either. The coach is mentioned in two stories, but not by name.

I found a story from 2015 where he worked with Zac Robinson in the offseason. Maybe he still uses him. https://www.tulsaworld.com/sports/college/osu/osu-s-mason-rudolph-enlists-the-help-of-an-offseason/article_10ba09f6-7866-50f2-8ade-6a0867442cac.html

Zac Robinson is the assistant QB coach of the LA Rams for 2019. Not sure if that is a conflict of interest, but since the Rams not only have a QB coach in Shane Waldron and an Asst QB coach in Robinson.....maybe he can spare the time?
