After the end of the Steelers’ 2018 season, tight end Jesse James (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/10403/jesse-james) compared the drama (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/01/03/steelers-tight-end-jesse-james-compares-season-to-kardashians/) that enveloped the team over the course of the year to something one might see on a TV show starring the Kardashians and the topic came up at his first press conference as a member of the Lions.

Best of luck to him, I was hoping we could keep him but not at the price Detroit paid

I like the outlaw and won’t be surprised to see him catch 50 balls next year. He’s only 24 and still has time to develop.

The Lions are a great place to be if he hates drama. They're usually so bad that they can't even get negative attention.

I wish The Outlaw the best. I hope he has a great career and wish him well. He always played hard for this team and gave everything he had.

Josh Harris can confirm this.

It's a pretty damning statement for a local product playing to be to be gone from his childhood team in his home area and ve glad to be in the urban apocalypse of Detroit playing for the perpetually mediocre lions

Well the two drama queens are gone. You think he would WANT to stay now.

Meh - he left for more money and a chance to play as more than a career backup, not because of the drama. Hope it works out for him.

"Well, I've had some success in Pittsburgh," James said Thursday at an introductory press conference. "I think it could have been better. Offensively, I wasn't used the way I feel I could be used here. I feel like my ceiling is much higher here than it was in the past."

I suspect that the coaching staff regarding you as "JV" to the degree that they made a preseason trade for another guy to start over you. Then that guy gets hurt all the time and they still start him over you whenever they can was a pretty significant factor in James' decision to leave.

Also, Detroit is pretty nice if you have $6+ million dollars. It isn't a Mad Max movie. The Lions can look forward to James' total lack of YAC, his consistent ability to lose leverage on his blocks and be roller-skated into the backfield, and his constant ability to try super hard.

Fuck JJ, I had hope for him but he always seemed to disappoint. He could have gone without flapping his lips on the way out but apparently couldn't help himself

Jesse James only said what everyone outside of the Steeler fanbase is afraid to admit. This organization is laden with talent but cancelled by drama. Jesse wanted to make more money sure but it's no secret the Steelers are turning into the NFL version of the Jerry Springer show. Plaxico Burris, Santonio Holmes, the fiasco with Joey Porter, Bell and now Brown. Hell the Steelers organization had to stop its franchise QB from riding Motorcycles after Ben's wreck on his Streetbike. It's not James that anyone should be mad at, it's the organization that should be blamed for allowing a once great franchise to become a 3 ring circus.

FWIW here is the actual quote Friday from Jesse James at his press conference

No surprise the Florio story with an out of context quote to generate page clicks was bullshit

”I’m glad to get away from it? Probably not. Obviously, things like that I like to face head on. If I would have had the opportunity to go back to Pittsburgh, I would have been into it and ready to get though this. They’re in a different situation, they’ve lost a couple of players that have been keys for a long time for them. It’s not something I was running away from, those problems, I would like to face those head on but that wasn't the cards I was dealt. Free agency opened up, I had places that wanted me more than Pittsburgh were going to pay. ”

BUt...the try hard TE that gives me a discipline fluffy feeling backed up my opinion...no way it could be wrong!

JESSE JAMES SAID MIKE TOMLIN IS AN IDIOT THAT HAS NOT CONTROL OVER THE TEAM AND IS A SOCK PUPPET FOR ANTONIO BROWN!!

Everyone knows this! It can't be denied.

even with bell and brown gone, JJ still says 'things like that', 'get through it', 'those problems'.............for jesse(imo-a humble, quiet guy) for him to say those things, makes me question if the problem is still in that locker room.

Because that is what you seem to want. If you "read into his words", it fits your agenda. In every freaking thread on this board.

seeing that jesse went on record, during the season, saying 'we are the kardashians' 'we have stuff popping up every week' 'theres just people calling people out', etc etc etc..
it seems a reasonable person could read these comments an assume things all peachy keen

BUT i would love for you tell me what he meant when he made those specific quotes?
enlightened me please

You, as always assume that's it's Ben or Tomlin that's the problem.

His own words tell the real story:

"I had places that wanted me more than Pittsburgh were going to pay. ”

Vance McDonald “chris conte’ed” Jesse James’s career. :wink02:
