Under/Over how long after retirement until AB is broke.

I expect AB to get drug-tested (and fail) on the first day of training camp. During his suspension, AB will do something really stupid (as in: unlawful) and be in court. I see him heading towards a lifetime ban, and out of the league by the start of the 2021 season.

How long before he goes broke depends on how much of that “guaranteed” money the Raiders try to recoup.

I don't hate Brown, I really think he's either bi-polar or a product of a shitty upbringing or both.

Nah, this year it'll be pretty tame, something questionable but merely embarrassing. Like getting pulled over for speeding at 3 a.m. with a woman in the passenger seat who turns out to be a transsexual escort (he swears he didn't know (about either of those special circumstances (she was an ... *ahem* ... "Instagram model"))). Also, I will bet anything he gets robbed of $100,000+ in jewelry at some point this offseason.

Then NEXT offseason it'll be the gun going off during the altercation outside a nightclub, and he's in all manner of legal trouble to start the year, and Carr gets injured again, and he just walks out on the team, and then while AWOL he gets in more legal trouble. If I had to guess, it'll be something sketchy related to the party lifestyle, where it's just plausible that he's a stooge being taken advantage of by unsavory characters ... like someone else gets caught with a kilo of cocaine at one of his houses while he's not there ... and then as time goes on you find out that person also had access to bank accounts and luxury cars in Brown's name ... and the Raiders are doing surprisingly well thanks to some random rookie from, like, New Mexico State ... and just at the height of his irrelevance, some really weird shit comes out - like Brown and this guy would go to a Miami massage parlor together and get golden showers, and it's immediately denied by his attorney and nobody ever actually proves it, but it becomes part of sketchy NFL lore like Ron Mexico, and his attorney announces he's in a rehab center.

Then after THAT, maybe he's out of the league, or maybe he gets some ban and conditional reinstatement and a couple of year-to-year deals ... who knows.

I think he’s gone off the deep end.

I think you got that right, just in a less specific way.

A guy like that can blow through $30 mil faster than you can say rocks and blocks, though.

When you "lose" $80,000 like it's a $1 bill how long do you think that $30 million will last?

Not sure, but also factoring in Cali state taxes, lol. I wonder if he thought that through.

I think they are taking a poll on his financial mismanagement because he is stupid. Which was also a contributing factor in his decision to leave the football team.

"Shot at Love with Tila Tequila"

I would almost watch it if they brought that show back just for this. Just to see what would happen if two people that crazy and stupid were on camera at once. Almost.

Terry Bradshaw is a way bigger asshole than Big Ben!!!! :flap:

James Harrison is a loser and will die a loser!

LeGarrette Blount should go play in traffic and be forced to give Bill Belichick backrubs for the next decade!

I hope Le'Veon Bell loses his voice and can't rap anymore!

AB needs to implode on national TV the first time his quarterback misses him and loses his shit so bad he shits himself in front of the world and never catches another pass in the NFL!

Oh yeah.....The Patriots SUCK!!!!

Black and Gold forever baby!!! Suck it Patriot fan wannabe!!!

Money schmoney. I think the dude has lost his mind. The speeding ticket, the furniture throwing, the “stolen” money from his safe... then, walking out at halftime... followed by appearing high during interviews.

In two years, we will probably be saying that the Steelers made the right choice to get rid of AB. Sure, we miiight have gotten more in compensation, but then again, no one was offering more than the Raiders. Really. Several teams offered higher picks, but they wouldn’t agree to extending AB. Other teams will simply “out” on AB. Ergo, maybe a R3 & a R5 was indeed the best offer we could get.

“Keep him, sit him.”

It’s logical, but then again, if AB gets suspended this August (Goodell could suspend AB for the furniture throwing incident), then a R3 & a R5 suddenly look very smart. In fact, when Martavis Bryant got traded, Colbert “knew” that Bryant was probably going to be suspended... and, maybe Colbert has that same knowledge about AB. Really. It would not surprise me at all.

SUMMAION:
AB has gone off of the deep end.

maybe, but he got more than $11 million on top of his current contract including $30.125 million fully guaranteed so he's looking pretty smart right now.

I would like to know the over/under until AB & Gruden have their first falling out...

When he gets to the bottom, he goes back to the top of the slide...

Gruden could “handle” Keyshawn long enough to get a ring... before Gruden suspended him for the final 7 games of the next season. Likewise, I think Gruden will feed AB target after target after target... but, alas, Carr is no Ben. So, we will see an AB tantrum along the sideline, but Gruden will appease AB by trading Carr (who will lead the league in INTs with 25). After that... get out your popcorn.

Off of the field, though, even Gruden cannot stop that eventual meltdown by AB.

Lastly, when the “on the field” mess catches up to the “off of the field” shenanigans, watch out!!! :scared:

Then why come here? I said I don't hate the guy I just think he's got serious issues in life besides football. The guy lost his Bentley (then found it), lost $80K in cash, had guns stolen, had someone in his apartment throwing furniture down several flights that almost hit a child, live streamed on Facebook with the other dumb ass bookend Bell about facing the Patriots BEFORE we played the Jaguars, was caught dangerously going over 100mph, oh and basically QUIT on his football team then acted like a child on social media about it. And I did put #4 in the poll in case you failed to notice which gave everyone the choice to say he'll be fine.

Don’t know how long it will take him to spend it all, but dude was financially savvy enough to get a 20 million dollar raise, and punked the Steelers into giving away the best WR in the NFL for almost nothing.

And, Nevada doesn’t have a state income tax.

"Financially savvy" was the last thing I would call what Brown did. I guess it did coincidentally have a financially positive result, but it was about as savvy as getting high on PCP and rolling around in shit all day screaming about the second coming of Jesus.

Before he gets to Nevada, he has to play 1-2 years in California, which means he pays quadruple in taxes what he saves. Real savvy.

Exactly. Unless he plays well into his mid 30's he'll be paying the People's Republic of Kalifornia style taxes. I hope he doesn't like driving his $200K cars very fast. Won't be doing that in Kalifornia either. I once spent 6 hours trying to drive from SF to Berkley and I could see my destination the whole time.

Even if the Raiders don’t move, and he pays California income taxes all three years, he will still be getting about 15 million more than if he remained a Steelers. I would gladly get high on PCP and roll around in shit all day for 15 million!

But, even if AB somehow loses money on the deal…is broke, and in an institution for the criminally insane before training camp…….no matter what happens in the future…..the Steelers got played! He punked the Steelers into giving away the best WR in the NFL for a 3rd & a 5th.

No amount of Schadenfreude is going to compensate for The Steelers offense (the only facet of the team that still justified them as contenders) taking a HUGE step backwards. The window on Ben winning another SB closes even more (shut at this point…in my opinion). The loss to the Raiders killed our chances last year, but they did far more lasting damage with the AB trade.

Steelers' contract would have paid $38.9M over the next 3 years; Raiders' deal is for $50.1M over 3 years, so that's $11.2M difference. He'll be paying $6.7 million to the Communist Party in his new home (13.3 percent!), so overall it's a $4.5 million increase over three years. Call it $750K a year in take-home after all taxes and fees are added in.

I would gladly get high on PCP and roll around in shit all day for 15 million!

So would I, but most likely people would just tell me, "Get out of here, you're covered in shit!"

The point is that one had nothing to do with the other. He may have stumbled into more money, but certainly not because he is a master tactician who figured it all out.

This is true. We got absolutely shit on, no two ways about it. The sad part is that we LET him punk us - we did it to ourselves! I will never understand what we could have possibly been thinking, except that it reeks of incompetence and spineless leadership.

While I will not pretend to know what went on behind closed doors to lead us to this decision ... given the circumstances, at any point in the process, the owner easily could have stepped in and said, "This is bullshit, we are not playing this game - THE END, I am hanging up the phone. See you in September."

That it did not go that way suggests one of two things: That our ownership/front office is HOPELESSLY incompetent to a degree that portends a stunning franchise decline ... or the real reason is that Brown has actually lost his mind - gone completely cuckoo-for-Cocoa-Puffs - and there was no way out, we are just taking the high road by not saying it publicly. For the sake of the team, I hope it's the second one.

You got that right. While I do think it's fine to hope nothing good happens to Brown - fuck that guy - there is no getting around the fact that we have taken two huge body blows in consecutive years (three if you count Bryant), and that can only go on for so long before it's too much to recover from. Probably is too much, at this point.

I'm afraid AB will be broke before he even gets the chance to retire. He'll probably end up owing millions. He's one of those people who wins the lottery and winds up ruined.

I say "afraid" because I honestly bear no ill will towards the dude. I'm sure that makes me a minority on this forum.
