Not the best return one could imagine, but a good job by Colbert and company to get something in return for a player the entire league knew they were releasing anyway.

That’s not bad. I wouldn’t think you’d be able to pull in more than that. Like you said, better something than nothing.

6th round pick is probably fair value for someone who only played 11 games in the last 2 seasons. IMO his career is about over, Cards are rolling the dice with this one. 2 seasons in a row he proved he couldn't stay healthy, this is his last chance.

With that said, I wish him luck.

Good move to get something along with getting another $5 million under the salary cap

On second thought:

Last ten 6th/7th rd picks made by PIT since 2014:
DT Joshua Frazier
LS Colin Holba
OLB Keion Adams
OLB Travis Feeney
WR Demarcus Ayers
OLB Tyler Matakevich
DT Leterrius Walton
DE Anthony Chickillo
S Gerod Holliman
LB Jordan Zumwalt

not the greatest compensation , BUT ...... when you consider cap savings too it nearly covers the draft class and enables you to sign someone else ...

That’s a suspiciously coincidental bit of math. Nice catch.

Big Al, Fieler, Chucks, Hawkins, and Banner. 5mill back to the the salary cap and a 6th. Good deal

My first reaction was, “that’s all.”
Then I remembered how he hasn’t contributed at all for way too long.
Good move.

6th rd pick could be used to move up in the draft

Scenario 1:
“Hey guys, Gilbert is washed up and injury prone. He can’t play without using PEDs to repair his body. Oh, and we are simply going to cut him if we can’t trade him. Any takers?... anyone?... anyone at all?”

Senario 2:
“Gilbert is our starter. Who wants him for a R6 pick?”

you can't move up very far using a 6th round pick.

Or... you draft a QB who wins 6 Super Bowls (albeit, three via cheating).
