Don't count their former head coach among those surprised by the Pittsburgh Steelers' 2-0 start without Ben Roethlisberger.

Bill Cowher said he has seen this sort of resiliency in the face of adversity before, most notably in his 2005 team that overcame a three-game midseason losing streak to win Super Bowl XL.

"I wouldn't say I'm surprised, I'm impressed," Cowher said Thursday at Penn State Behrend's Junker Center, where he kicked off the school's 2010-11 Speaker Series. "This is a good football team. It's the best defense in football without a doubt, and they're not going to beat themselves." ...............

No matter how much he tries to be unbiased, The Chin loves the Steelers and always will.

I must admit, too, that I am (pleasantly) surprised at how well this team has played - particularly ST's and the D - with adversity staring them in the face. :tt02: I actually get shivers in me timbers thinking of how even more powerful this team will be with Ben back at the helm on O. :yay3:

This guy will forever be a Steeler no Matter what. He will be back on the sidelines next year, and Carolina is waiting for John Fox to Implode this season to roll the red carpter out for him. I heard on the radio this morning how Coach Cowher said " He misses coaching". I got a little emotional at that point because I can almost guarantee the loss of his wife this year has put a lonely hole in him and he needs to stay distracted and has found new motivation to win another Super Bowl.

Funny thing, I don't remember the chant "he's one of us" when this picture came out:

(Though in all fairness, if memory serves, it wasn't those who so far have posted in this thread that responded negatively to that pic).
