Which would you rather have?

A. 13-3 and 0-1 in the postseason
B. 9-6-1 and miss the playoffs

TBH, I’ll take B. It sucks but not as much as last year. Plus we have the consolation of a better draft pick.

Is there anyone who would take A?

Miss the playoffs. 13-3 gets your hopes up at least for a deep run. Better to be disappointed early and get a better draft pick

Plus I will enjoy the playoffs more now that I can put the Tums bottle away and just watch the games.

I’ll take C - 8-7-1. I think this may actually affect real change.

I hate losing in the playoffs. I always give Cowher a pass for losing to the Chargers in the AFC Championship in 94. There was NO WAY the Steelers were going to beat the 49'ers and I do not want to watch the Steelers get thrashed in even the regular season, let alone a Super Bowl.

I can handle losing (sometimes). I can't handle watching the team get destroyed.

13-3 and one and done. At least there is something enjoyable going on. Plus 9-6-1 and no playoffs you end up having the team pick 19th or 20th and they still end up taking the best athlete with no football playing ability.

That loss was horrible. The only silver lining I saw from that was Butler getting fired, which didn't even happen. That game still makes me sick.

Depends how they do against the spread

Agreed. It sucks when we all want the Steelers to win it all every year and it doesn't happen.

It is frustrating because this team has so. much. talent.

I’ll take the miss the playoffs. The first round loss is a huge letdown as expectations are way high. With a shit show like this season, frustrations are higher but expectations are way low.

I digress, but how can you give Cowher a pass for the 94 AFC Championship loss?
You must be a very nice person.

I just don't want the Pats or Ravens winning the Superbowl. Pulling for Chiefs or Saints.

It was his first AFC Champ loss, so there was no history there to hate on like there was just a couple years later. Plus I didn't see the Steelers being able to beat either the Cowboys or 49'ers and I expected to get thrashed by the 49'ers in every way/shape/form.

That and I had a dream before the playoffs started that the Super Bowl would be Chargers vs 49'ers so I kind of expected it a little. It still hurt like hell, but in a way I kind of already knew they weren't going to win.

Their defense is way worse than ours.

B

A is like being well off and then losing everything- it’s a big shock that’s harder to get over
B is like your already poor and you remain poor or you lose that little that you had. It’s less of a shock than A. Easier to overcome. I’m already looking to next year and the hoped for improvements.

At least we went down fighting against a top team in their house. Beats the Jacksonville fiasco of last year. There was nothing good to take out of that loss. It was pure embarrassment.

Keep in mind going 9-6-1 still gets you only the 20th pick, the same kind of draft position the Steelers have had the last few years without the benefits of a postseason berth. Plus there is still room for the organization to bury their hands in the sand and stick to the status quo because "the record is good enough".

Frankly it will be hard getting excited for the 20th pick and all the players that are the super athletic type the Steelers like and players that can actually play football will be gone

Even if we had the 1st pick, we'd probably draft some unknown "athletic freak/project" instead of the sure fire no-brainer All Pro pick.

Jarvis Jones was far from an athletic freak. He ran a 4.9.

His fastest 40 was a 4.7. Your 4.9 was ran in muddy conditions and chilly weather.

Well I think he rain a 5.1 when he had a Steelers uniform on. Regardless, he was both slow and weak, but he made up for it by having no motor.
