Nuff said, his hit on Haden totally fucked the game. An INT there would have been a back breaker to the chargers

And then there was the added bonus of watching Artie Burnt come in for Haden and immediately give up the 2-point conversion making it a one-possession game. :frusty:

Yep horrible draft that year cause Steelers was desperate and reach for need! Yea agree Fan and when Artie is on the field only bad crap happens. Another great coaching decision in the game!

Classic example of why teams shouldn’t reach for needs...Text book!

Are there any free agents out there that could be useful on defense?
I am not referring to Davis, specifically, I am just asking in general.
We have money and if there is a potential difference maker out there it is worth looking at them imo.

Davis played a good game. So he and Haden collide on a play and all of a sudden he should be cut? You guys are hilarious.
What about Ben overthrowing a wide open Hunter and missing a TD? What about Feiler giving up that key sack to Bosa? What about AV and the holding call on a screen pass? Cut them all. :noidea:

.....and don’t forget to fire the entire coaching staff.

That play was more unlucky than anything. The bigger problem with Davis is that he seems to make a lot of bonehead mistakes overall. Not the same kind as Mitchell, just not really up to speed with the nuances of playing DB in a pro game.
I still have more hope for him than Burns. That guy just has not progressed at all and still makes rookie mistakes in his third season. And he doesn't even have the excuse of being forced into different positions. I kind of feel bad because IMO the fact that we have had close to zero player development across the board in the defensive secondary (for years) means it is more likely a coaching issue than all the players just being inherently stupid. But whatever the reason, they may have squandered their chance with him and given him an irreversible shove down Cortez Allen Road. Looks like my bout of swearing and kicking over garbage cans at the gas station when they announced that pick turned out to be justified, though.

You guys are hilarious. Davis is the best FS the Steelers have had since Ryan Clark left. He currently ranks at #22 out of 88 safeties in the NFL by PFF.
The only issue is that he has been at SS and dime corner his first couple seasons in B&G. His play this season has been a big upgrade over Mike Mitchell was.

Collide is a light way to put it. He lowered his helmet into haden with intent as if he forgot haden wasn't wearing a white jersey (which is still idiotic cause if that were the SD receiver it would have been a no brainer 15 yard penalty). Haden had a clear pick and that likely would have sealed the game at that point. However that stupid as shit move caused an avalanche of a shit show

Davis was clearly on his way to hit Allen and then Haden stepped up and almost intercepted it until they collided. Davis was already timing his guy out. Nothing he could’ve done there.

Exactly!!!
It was unfortunate, but if Haden hadn’t jumped the route, and Davis had allowed Allen to catch the balk, we’d be passed. 99 times out of 100, both players aren’t in position to make that play. They both made a play... and collided.
Now, 99 times out of 100 that they do collide, the ball falls to the ground incomplete.
That is a 0.00001% chance that that play ends up as a TD.

I disagree. Allen was almost a full yard behind the space Davis targeted. What was he looking at? If they had collided while both of them were going for the BALL that would make sense. If Haden hadn't been there the ball would have bounced right off Davis' helmet. I can't even begin to figure out what he was doing

I believe that Davis has played in about 600 snaps so far this season. This is the first bad play that I’ve seen him make in a long while. Really. How many dumb-ass deep balls have we given up? (A: not many)
1 out of 600... math... numbers... uh, that’s not worthy of being shot. :noidea:

Well maybe shot was the thought going through my mind after the game, but still you'd have to admit that mistake likely cost us the game. And likely the chance of any first round bye
