....we already knew that, they should have ask us! :chuckle:

Mike Tomlin didn't understand the criticism before the season. With the Pittsburgh Steelers (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/pit/pittsburgh-steelers) without Ben Roethlisberger (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5536) for the first four games of the season, football experts were writing off his team when all along he knew he had an elite defense to lean on.

It's too early to rate defenses statistically. Too many anomalies in only 2 games.

The stats are meaningless as they are based on yards. We don't have an offense (which inflated Tennessee's ranking) which means we are also giving opposing offenses many more drives to gain yardage.

It's nice to read that we're the greatest and all, but the only thing that REALLY matters is who is putting their fingerprints on the trophy at the end of the season.

I agree. By Week #7 or 8, the contenders will start to separate themselves from the pretenders.

i liked it more when we were under the radar. now i keep seeing articles praising our defense after just 2 games. dont get me wrong I think we have been awesome so far but 2 games isn't enough for me to say we got the best defense. i think after about week 5 we can start to form a solid opinion.

It is certain that Rex Ryan will not agree with her, but the best defense in the NFL is in Pittsburgh and the best defensive player in the league is not revised, but Troy Polamalu is the best defensive player in the NFL.

Here's a more accurate way of measuring a defense's effectiveness.

EXACTLY...

But for those of us who have watched the games....we realize we may have a very special defense as we did in 2008.

The elements are there.

I think its crazy how everyone uses yards given up to tell which defense is the best. The only stat I care about is points allowed. Is a defense that only allows 150 yards but allows 13 points better than a defense that allows 350 yards but surrenders no points?

HELL NO....

Really dude, really. We shutdown two playoff teams and two of the most elite RB's in the league and that's how you measure our production. All of those so called "top 5 total defensive teams" have had the additional benefit of playing against very soft competition (except for the Ravens). Lol, and by the way, we still have 7/8 of the season to go through.

HELL NO....

And Tunorvers!

The steelers have eight turnovers create since the beginning of the season, which ranked first in the NFL!

The steelers are the first for the point allowed and the create the turnorvers with 8!

The reason you use yards instead of points is if you use points, you don't factor in an offense that might keep leaving you in horrible field position.

Exactly right.

Rankings do not take turnovers...sacks..and other factors into consideration. They are just based on yards allowed.

Best line from the ESPN Article in my opinion:

"Every defensive starter in Pittsburgh has a Super Bowl ring. Several -- such as Polamalu, Smith, Casey Hampton, James Farrior and Brett Keisel -- have two rings."

I agree with your point and speacial teams may give a up a big play plus your offense might throw a pick 6 thats not ur defenses fault

I would not want to be an inexperienced or imobile QB playing against this defense. Are you listening Mr. Freeman and Mr. Flacco?
