Ola Adeniyi has been waiting for it for 12 full weeks. For Eli Rogers, it’s been even longer.

Indications are this week each will finally be given the chance to practice with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Coach Mike Tomlin played coy about the statuses this week of Adeniyi, a rookie outside linebacker, and Rogers, a veteran slot receiver. Adeniyi posted a message on his verified Twitter account that he was going to practice Wednesday – a message that was deleted after media asked Tomlin if that was true.

“Well, that’s good,” Tomlin said with a smile when told about the social-media post.

Moments prior, Tomlin said that the organization was going to decide Tuesday if it would start the 14-day window that Adeniyi would be permitted to practice before the team would have to decide whether to add him to its 53-man roster or keep him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

Adeniyi was placed on IR the week before the regular season began because of what the team said was a hamstring injury, and he has been healthy . Players on IR can work out on their own but cannot play during an eight-game stretch. They also cannot participate in practice until the 14-day window is activated by the team.

“He looked pretty good in the latter part of last week,” Tomlin said. “(So) it might be time for that.”

Would be good to see the Steelers have more than 3 OLBs on the roster. As for Rogers, he's adequate for his position, though he'll have to contend with Switzer now for reps in his role

If Rogers could come back at his same level and improve, that would be HUGE
