By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Steelers linebacker James Harrison received bad news and good today from the NFL office.
He was fined $5,000 for body-slamming Tennessee quarterback Vince Young on a sack in the third quarter of the Steelers' 19-11 victory in Nashville Sunday.
And he was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week............

...................Asked Wednesday after practice if the hit was worth paying the fine, Harrison said "No!" (cheapskate...)

Another stupid Gooddell "it looks like the QB got hurt" call. He didn't body slam him. He lifted up his legs, but the weight of the other two pushed Young to the ground.

I'm sure he will gladly pay this fine and then use it as a chip on his shoulder and introduce him self to Josh Freemen on Sunday.

I think a lot of us saw this coming, unfortunately, as the NFL has become so damned pussified. I wish Goodell had been da Commish back when Lambert played, as #58 would have personally shoved the $5,000.00 (in $1.00 increments) up GoodHell's bony ass. :heh:

Boooo!

Come on, now. I'm getting so sick of these fines for hits on the QB. It's really becoming a joke.

Ah well. He'll take out his frustration on Freeman next week.

Get rid of ithe ntentional grou.ding penalty and you will protect QBs a lot more than with fines.

Deebo rules.

But this is no surprise. It'll help put some money in the NFL because Tampa Bay can't sell tickets. Oh wait, Steeler fans will sell out the place. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha.

If the ref did their job and blew the whistle sooner then they wouldn't of had to slam Young into the ground. It's called playin til ya hear the whistle.

It was worth the 5k though

Fisher was whining about it again on NFL Network. They replayed it on Serius. "We should have gotten the the 1st down with the penalty, blah blah, blah". I was screaming at the radio, " you lost the freakin' game because you turned the ball over 7 times, you freakin' moron"!!!!

HometownGal

Personally, I think the NFL should not be permitted to levy a fine against a player if the player was not given a penalty by the Refs at the time of the supposed "infraction". If the Refs are proven incompetent boneheaded boobs, THEY should be fined by the NFL instead or plain freakin' fired.

I swear each one of those poker faced stripe-ed dopes eats a bowl of stupid before each game.

BS fine.

Harrison only lifted him up. If the other two weren't tackling him high trying to bring him down, Harrison's actions wouldn't have resulted in a body slam.

7SteelGal43
09-22-2010, 08:11 PM
I didn't see a body slam. I simply saw Harrison plant Young like a tulip.

I just thought of something... what about Rolando McClain of the Raiders slamming the Rams receiver into the ground... did he get in trouble at all???

It's not about what you do on the field. It's about how hard someone whines about it after the game.

This is becoming a game for wimps, and the Steelers look out of place.

Too bad Jeff, take the sack like a man. Now that we have a brutal sack attack, is the next rule going to be named "The Harrison" or "The Woodley" Red Shirt rule?

I thought both plays were awesome. I don't think McClain got any fines because it wasn't a QB he was tackling like that.

It just pisses me off...

All of you young'ns don't remember football when it was a real sport. The Pussification Committee has done irreparable damage to what was the best display of controlled violence on the planet. The game is still good, but those days are gone when these tackles got even the cheerleaders fired up! I understand the idea of protecting the players, but I'm wondering when they are gonna start making the QBs wear a flag belt.

Just saw that play for the 1st time. To be honest, it's Young's O-line that should have been fined. That was just a God awful attemped at blocking. Young may have to get use to that sort of tackles.

Seems pretty fair to me. Two Steelers and two Titans fined the same amount in the skirmish that took place.

Looked to me like Aaron Smith should've been fined $15000 for slamming all three of those guys. Smith getting no recognition...again.

Harrison ought to appeal that...who's to say which of the 3 slammed Young...lol.
