Guess again Coach

Mike Tomlin fired off on NFL officials this week – and now the NFL has fired back.

The Pittsburgh Steelers coach has been fined $25,000 for criticizing officials, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because the action had yet to be officially announced by the league.

AJRII better give Tomlin a $25K raise to cover that fine. I have issues with Tomlin but props to him for calling out the crappy officiating and being able to do it after a win so it could not be spun as someone looking for excuses.

This is so stupid. Finding someone for speaking their mind on the issues with officiating. Just stupid.

For the record, I feel the same way whenever any coach speaks out, not just Tomlin. The only time I think a fine is in order is when you have someone like Holmgren insinuating the refs helped the Steelers win the super bowl in 2005. Accusing them of foul play is a lot different , in my humble opinion.

The funny thing is, the problem wasn't the officiating and Tomlin, I don't think, was calling out the officials. The problem is the policy the officials are made to work under and that is what he was complaining about. At least, that's how I took it.

Good point, which I suppose would be self-criticism from Tomlin that the system is broken since he is on the rules committee

Can argue he is calling out the officials or he is calling out those who give the officials their marching orders with his quote on "gotta get 'em correct"

“We’ve gotta get better as a National Football League,” Tomlin said. “Man, these penalties are costing people games and jobs. We’ve gotta get ’em correct. And so I’m pissed about it, to be quite honest with you. But that’s all I’m gonna say on it.”

That's exactly how I took it. Shouldn't be fine at all

Typical Tomlin. Bill Belichick didn’t get fined... Why would Bill have to say a word and had them in his pocket for years.

The NFL is now in the process of funneling Tomlins 25k to Bill-I-Cheats off shore bank account as we speak

Questioning whether or not Tomlin was directing criticism toward the officials themselves or the ”new rules” they are told to enforce....well, the phantom roughing call on Watt tells me he was doing both.
The ref who made that call should be fined more than Tomlin.

For 25K he should demand more air time and really unload.

I love the idea of a referee swear jar on the podium. Coach can walk out, throw some cash in it and go off

Put it at the locker room door on the way into the presser so they can pay before or after...lol. I’d love to see a coach come in and just drop a wad of cash in before the presser.
