PITTSBURGH — So far, a relentless ball-hawking defense has picked up the slack for the Steelers’ lackluster offense. But now coach Mike Tomlin wants some of his offensive stars to elevate their games.

On Tuesday, Tomlin basically called out wide receivers Hines Ward and Mike Wallace and tight end Heath Miller.

Tomlin said that in last Sunday’s 19-11 win over Tennessee, all three of them had a chance to make tough catches that could have boosted the offense...................

That's what I've been sayin'; the offense is playing at a level that cannot be justified by the absence of Big Ben. They need to correct their mental mistakes.

What is Tomlin Smokin'? 9 total passes and one that damn near got Heath's head knocked off and you call out the receivers? WTF???

No comment other than Tomlin should be directing his hocus pocus focus on this Sunday's game against the Bucs rather than looking back. We have a piece meal offense until Ben gets back no matter how you want to slice it and thanks to 2 superhuman performances by our D, we managed to come out of both of those games with W's. Move on Coach.

Could you imagine how strong this Steeler team can be if they can score an offensive TD .

simply amazing. tomlin goes with the inept dixon then complains about the WRs not catching his trash? this is about as laughable as his "unleashing hell" speech.

I would call out the entire offense and not a select few players. Our offense needs to explode against the Bucs coming up. I'm really hoping for Mendy to have another one hundred yard rushing game again.

Makes sense to me, give the Offense a little kick in the pants, that might help to avoid any chatter in the locker room from the defense saying they have to carry the team.

Besides, it would be nice to see a couple offensive TDs this week.

I'd like to see more carries from Redman to help keep Mendenhall fresh. More experience for Redman and keep Mendenhall ready for later in the year when we'll need both of them.

Also, more screens to Mendenhall would help the QB, whoever it is.

Rightfully so. All game I was screaming for somebody to MAKE A PLAY. None of the receivers were making the difficult catches. That's not gonna cut it down the stretch, even when Ben's back.

Nothing wrong with trying to light a fire under his offense and specially the Vets like Heath and Hines.
This offense needs to gove the D some breathing room and score some points. They dont have to light up the scoreboard but 20 points would be nice, and avoid so mnay 3 and outs also....

It's actually not a matter of Ben being out. It's the mental mistakes too.

How many times have the Steelers O put the ball on the ground last week? That's not Ben. That's Mental errors and lack of execution.

THe Offense will do better this week for sure. Kordell Stewart isn't playing and Charlie "scared to throw the ball" Batch isn't back there either.

Activate an extra RB and run some gadget plays like ARE to Ward.

Tomlin calling out the Offense worked, no?
