Tomorrow is the cutdown day in the NFL. It’s not a fun day with 1184 players slated to be released. But if history tells us anything, it’ll be an active day for the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team whose no stranger to waive wire pickups and trades. We previously wrote about the trade ideas earlier in the week. Today, here’s six names I’d consider. Obviously, no players have been cut yet, but the odds are at least decent for all the players listed below.

If he appeals or whatever and isn’t suspended, I’d sign him back.

and as the number 4 WR behind James Washington clearly spelled out in 3 languages and braille in case he is to stoned to read it maybe he can " feel the letters"

Of course. He’d have to come in on a VERY team friendly contract and know that one small fuck up or wrong comment and he’s gone.

John Simon visited the Jets yesterday but I haven't seen anything about a contract.

I fail to see what’s so great about Simon.

I fail to see what’s so great about Simon.

He is better than Chick Filet and "Currently Not on the Roster" that the Steelers depth chart shows behind Watt and Dupree at OLB.

Agreed, vet minimum and he adds depth, but a 5 year vet that averages around 3 sacks a season and is looking for his 4th team doesn't describe a guy as a "must have" kind of signing.

Simon was forced to play in 4-3 when they transitioned the defense. He is more suited to a 3-4 scheme.

I think that's why many like him here. The thing is, we don't really know what the Steelers defense is transitioning into. He may not be a fit here as well.

Hybrid 3/4 4/3 like the ravens played perhaps? I think they have the players to pull it off

How about Lamar Woodley? He might be out of money...

I fail to see what’s so great about Simon.Simon has tremendous heart and a motor that won’t quit, unlike Bud, who has all the talent but lacks the pure warrior desire to hunt the qb and disrupt the backfield. I’m not saying Simon is a sack machine, which he isn’t but he could provide the spark when given the opportunity to light some fire under our Defense’s ass. He could spell either Watt or Dupree on both sides or fill in admirably if one of those two can’t make it into the lineup for a unforeseen injury.
