Ben Roethlisberger set to pass John Elway in passing yards

By SAM QUINN

Ben Roethlisberger is about to play in his 15th NFL season, and sticking around for so long has given him a chance to climb very high up the NFL record book. In fact, Roethlisberger could hit a major milestone as soon as opening day against the Cleveland Browns. He currently sits only 410 yards behind childhood idol John Elway on the all-time passing yardage list. Roethlisberger passed Elway in all-time completions last season, and as the Steelers are lucky enough to open their season against the Browns, Roethlisberger could easily hit that yardage total in the first game of the year. If not? At least he'll get to do it in front of his home fans Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

That would make him the NFL's seventh all-time leading passer. Getting to No. 6 would be somewhat more difficult, as the man he'd be chasing is active. Eli Manning currently sits 617 yards ahead of Roethlisberger at 51,682 for his career. That difference largely boils down to durability, as Manning has never missed a start due to injury. For their careers, Roethlisberger has averaged 255 yards per game whereas Manning has averaged only 239, so injuries are the real difference there. But Roethlisberger beat Manning by almost 800 yards last season, so catching even the moving target Manning represents is possible. With Dan Marino at over 61,000 yards in the No. 6 slot, it would likely take Roethlisberger several years to catch him.

can you imagine what Ben could have accomplished if only he had studied more film and been a better leader like Peyton?

So true.....just think if he did that he would be as clutch as Elway was. :sarcasm02:

John Elway about to be passed on the yardage list by a "decent at best QB", right Jalen Ramsey?

Too bad. Steelers should've beaten the Faguars and New England last year. Ramsey can run his mouth all he wants. That's what the Steelers get for gagging up 38 points to Blake Bortles.

Just because a team wins doesn't mean their comments aren't stupid. Plus given that Ben torched that defense in the playoffs not sure how much Ramsey should be talking

What does that have to do with Ben??? Not like he plays Defense.

If he could convert drama to yardage, he’d be up there with Big Manning, Favre and Brees.

Ben also threw 5 INT's and was Pick sixed twice in the first game against Jacksonville.

Oh yeah, and the Steelers lost both games. At home. To a 10-6 team that hadn't made the playoffs in over a decade. That managed only ten points prior to a team that hadn't been the playoffs since 1999. At 13-3 Team with Super Bowl aspirations can't beat Blake Bortles. Who-the-fuck Doug Marrone outcoaches Mike Tomlin.

Like I said, the Steelers ran their mouths and wrote checks they couldn't cash. Should've taken care of business against the Jags and Patriots and chances are Ramsey wouldn't be running his mouth. Take the lumps and shut them up November 18th.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, who haven't been relevant since Bush II was in Office, come out of nowhere and beat the Steelers at Heinz... effortlessly.

And this has what to do with Ben Surpassing Elway?

Oh, and did I mention Ben's Fumble in the second game returned for a Touchdown that made the game 28-7? Or the interception deep in Steeler territory that gave Jacksonville a short field resulting in a 14-0 hole? Or the fact that the game was pretty much decided when Bortles totally clowned the Defense on a playaction fake to make the game 42-28?

Jacksonville came into Pittsburgh and punched the Steelers in the mouth twice. Jalen Ramsey can open his mouth and talk all the shit on Ben as much as he wants.

And this has what to do with Ben Surpassing Elway?

Nothing. Just as this has nothing to do with it.

yeah you are right what a waste of a QB we have. Damn shame that he can't win against Jacksonville. We ought to trade him now and feel lucky for whatever we get. Hell even the waterboy would be an upgrade. If we keep Ben we will be DOOMED!!!

Oh. Good. Another thread where Edman rants and raves about the Jags game.

Do you want to contribute something positive and on topic or just the usual venting?

I'm sure Ben must have played some defense back in Pop Warner, especially with how fat he used to be...
