I have watched Bell throughout his entire college career and as a pro. I have to say that he didn't look right to me on a couple different levels.

I don't know if he had a lingering injury that was still affecting him, but he just didn't look as quick or as explosive and powerful in the first few games.

The more obvious thing I observed was that he was unsure were to go, he was indecisive, and he seemed to have trouble reading blocks and "feeling" where to go with the ball. I attribute that to rust from not playing live football for a long time. That seemed very obvious to me as he would miss holes, or move on to the next gap without pressing the hole to get defenders to commit and help his O linemen get better angles for blocks like he usually does.

Just my opinion.

I expect the coaches and FO to be less gentle in their media comments about Bell’s absence. Last year they were still trying to massage the relationship. This year, the writing is on the wall. I expect a few barbs from Tomlin and Colbert.
