In the laid-back atmosphere of voluntary offseason practices, where players take the field in helmets and shorts and no tackling is permitted, Steelers nose tackle Javon Hargrave has noticed a sense of motivation in defensive end Stephon Tuitt that belies the informal workout setting.

Prior to injuring his bicep in the first game of the season (against the Browns), Tuitt looked like the steal that we all thought that he was. If he plays like he did in that quarter, he’ll surpass Heyward.

What happened to Hargrave last year? He kicked ass all season as a rookie and I was expecting him to do just as well or better ... but it seemed like we hardly even saw him on the field. Did he take a step back, or land in the doghouse or something? That guy could be the key to helping so many of our "issues" on defense ...

I think both can be great and form a nasty D-line with Heyward

I think they already did...they need two more guys to fully solidify it with a rotation.

New defense this season. Do we keep the usual 6 DL on the 53 or does that change?
Sure thing DL: Heyward, Tuitt, Hargrave
Most likely DL: Walton, Alualu
Dark Horse DL: McCullers, Frazier, Gilmore
Sure thing LBs: Watt, Dupree, VW, Bostic, Matakevich (Shazier)
Most likely LBs: Adams, Chickillo, Fort
Dark Horse LBs: Adeniyi, Kelsey, Galambos, Huguenin, Thomas
Sure thing DBs: Burns, Hilton, Sutton, Berhe, Haden, Edmunds, Burnett, Davis
Most likely DBs: M. Allen, B. Allen, Sensabaugh, Dangerfield
Dark Horse DBs: Deshaun Phillips, Malik Golden
Looks a lot like 5DL, 8LBS, and 12 DBs.

I think Heyward, Tuitt, Hargrave, Walton, Alualu all make it along with one of McCullers, Frazier or Gilmore for a total of 6 DL with Frazier as the favorite right now.
and I don't believe we'll keep 12 DBs, my prediction is Dangerfield and/or Sensabaugh don't make the final 53.
