Wonder what we're going to use that money for. $4 million is no joke.

That is almost the exact same amount as the team uses each year as their "in season contingency" fund. I suspect that the books are closed for the most part.

If they really want to do another major signing, it will have to come with an associated series of cuts and other cap moves.

This is why I always tell everyone to keep the faith.

They have $4 million now, and what if they trade or move on from Landry Jones?

What if they restructure somebody else to create even more room?

They will have enough to sign a big-time cast off from another team to fill a need.

I would love to see us sign a veteran ILB like Navorro Bowman to a one year deal.

In terms of signing free agents. I see Rogers being re-signed for WR depth once his knee is cleared, maybe they look to sign a veteran linebacker? Timmons/Bowman? Both scenarios could be cheap.

Maybe the cash can be used in Bell's contract negotiations? (More front loaded cash?)

Just spit balling.

He was expendable.

Sure! Those are all potential avenues for carving out cap $$ for this season. But, until they do one or more of those, I do not suspect that they will be looking at signing anyone of consequence. For the last several years now they have started the regular season with roughly 3-4 million in ready cap cash. Exactly what Wilcox's release created. While as fans that money is burning a hole in our pockets, I don't think it is for the team.

Now restructure/extend Ben and plan on cutting either Jones or Dobbs and you have that cash freed up for a vet signing or 2....

Let's not forget when we signed our biggest FA signing in years last year.

They'll give it to Bell and he'll still complain

I'll say, getting paid for doing nothing.

as soon as Bell heard the Steelers had some extra $$$ now he raised his contract demands...

3 free agent linebackers the Steelers should still consider
