JJ Wilcox goes bye bye.

More evidence that Edmunds is a LBer.

Allen is more linebacker then Edmunds.

I agree, Allen is way slower.

I'd forgotten how big Allen is. Thanks for pointing my oversight out to me!

Allen is a fantastic tackler and run defender, but has only 1 career int. He's a LB.

Could you pair him with Edmunds have them both inside like on a rotational basis with Vince and Red?

I keep saying we're going nickel as base defense. If not, we'll at least fall in the 60-70 percent mark for nickel and dime.

Looks like we now have two Safety-Backers.

Not sure what I think of this pick. Really like Fumagalli the TE the Broncos ended up getting. I like Vance McDonald but his constant injury issues are worrying, and Jesse James isn't the best blocker. Fumagalli to me seems a lot like Jesse but with a higher ceiling.

Oh well, if Allen helps shore up this defense then I'm happy.

I like the pick, but this is odd from a roster construction point of view. Meaning the path to the final 53.

So Edmunds takes Wilcox's spot. Then Allen get's Golden's spot -- but are either of them really playing a safety role?

So is one getting Golden's spot and one getting Spence's spot - with Wilcox still around?

I really can't decide how I feel about this draft until I get a better handle on the roles guys are slotted for in not only 2018, but moving forward.

Social media must not bother the Steelers much...it looks like JujJu is going to have some competition in that area. But it sounds like he's a fun kid, like JuJu.

Marcus Allen was a good player at PSU and a GREAT locker room guy and leader. He should be a nice addition...

Wonder if Tom Bradley had any influence or inside info on Allen...

Allen is active, he's a leader, he's a big hitter and a physical force. He has a knack for making big plays in big moments over his career at PSU.

If this team decides to play more nickel and dime, having players like Edmunds and Allen on the field that can cover and still be physical and make solid tackles in the run game and the passing game makes a ton of sense and is where this seems to be going.

Guys that can fly all over the field to cover and have the ability to make solid tackles and big hits. How many times did we see a player catch the ball, break a tackle, and gain a first down. It's not just the coverage, it's the physical presence and the sure tackling that go along with position flexibility.

I can't wait to see how they plan on using the talent and what adjustments they make to the scheme from a formation and personnel standpoint.

Yeah, I thought the TE room needed some competition. Fumagali isn't a great route runner, but better blocker. Kind of had more Matt Spaeth type game. He didn't look like he was getting much separation in 1 on 1 drills in the Senior Bowl.

Tom Bradley made it sound like they were going to put him at safety. That would mean they went through the draft with no linebackers. They need to move him to linebackers. They have enough in-the-box strong safeties.

I could see us signing another veteran ILB who gets cut after June 1

I'd say there is a 98% chance Wilcox is gone now. As for Goldens spot, that is Nat Behre and I am talking most specifically on ST. Golden may not have been the greatest safety but he was extremely important to a well oiled punt unit and Behre should be taking that role.

Wilcox is gone. Berhe is the ST/backup safety to replace Golden.

Burnett/Davis/Edmunds/M.Allen are the guys now.

That was a good point when you made it and has been demonstrated to be true this afternoon.

Looking at things a bit more, I see the Steelers have an out with Burnett next year. And Davis expires the year after.

Maybe there isn't the blocked paths to playing time that I initially thought.

I will be very interested to see the FS portion of the depth chart.

Looks like the Steelers are inventing a new defense with slash players in the secondary. It is probably out of necessity rather than by design.
WE have the Killers Bs on offense and the Plan B Slash Secondary Defense.
