that's why Colbert pulled the trigger, that offer was too good to pass up.

Depending on what they do with the pick, we will find out how good or bad the trade was...but the way it looks now, it's leaning very much towards to good side...

Highest sell point they were gonna get. Once the pick is in, a fuller reaction I'll be possible.

Good value. It is most likely going to end up being a straight up trade for a drafted receiver.

Figured they was looking to move him and glad Colbert got the 3rd he wanted and didn't settle for less! Great job but lets not use the pick to move up now in this round. Maybe tomorrow if there is a player they must have.

Remember when we traded Santonio Holmes for a 5th round pick, ended up trading that pick for a 6th rounder in the form of Antonio Brown + Bryant Mcfadden. Dare to dream

We have been looking at 2nd-3rd round receiver from what i can recall

I think Washington or maybe Hamilton in Round 2 wouldn’t be a terrible thing.

I can't remember, but some of those player-for-player trades being tossed around a couple months ago, when Bryant was "absolutely not for sale," seemed more appealing than this ... but then again, who knows if any of them were real.

Regardless, I'm glad we got something respectable for him, because we obviously must have had no intention of re-signing him after his deal expired. It'll be exciting to see what we make of it.

Still could see them go ILB in round 2 and two WR's in round 3

the Steelers reportedly really like Malik Jefferson and if he's still there at #60 could very well take him.

Aside from Evans and LVE, the Steelers met with 7 ILBs, 3 of whom will go on Day 2.

Malik Jefferson
Darius Leonard
Jerome Baker

The Steelers needed more than 3 picks in the first 4 rounds and now they have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. And at the cost of a player who was probably gone after this year.

Still lots of mouths to feed. AB and Juju starting. Bell is effectively the 3rd receiver for the his entirety on the team anyways. Vance McDonald is about to see his volume rise like never before. Im gonna predict 65 catches for 800 yards if hes healthy

There is one guy on that list I really hope they draft tomorrow. My guess is that it wont happen, but I'm not gonna jinx it.

I'm really happy they unloaded Bryant and got such a good value pick for him.

The Steelers are one AB tweak away from having Juju Smith-Schuster and a cluster of tomato cans at WR. It'll be 2016 all over again.

They will draft a WR in the 3rd like James Washington or maybe St. Brown from Notre Dame and they will fit in with AB, JuJu, Justin Hunter, DHB and slot WR Marcus Tucker. Bryant was just another malcontent distraction that wasn't in the long term plans anyways. Steelers WR they draft will be here for the next 4 seasons at least.

Raiders now have two physical talented wr's that can't catch the ball in Cooper & Bryant.

Have to wait until after the 3rd round to know who we traded for. I was for this trade before, I am for it now. Just can't judge it until it's finished. May not know until next year.

That is the best part of it all. Next year Bryant would not be re signed and whoever the Steelers draft in the 3rd most likely will. They traded away a guy that thought he was entitled to be the #2 WR, when he was actually 4th in receptions on the team (7 more than Jesse James) and he wasn't in the future plans anyways. Great move by Colbert.

Yeah, Bryant was really going to be a no-win situation for us after this season. If he played well enough that we'd want to keep him, then we be in the unenviable position of trying to work out a diva-sized contract for a guy who's a serious risk to go full T.O., or be out of the league for good without a moment's notice. We'd want to build in something to protect ourselves from the risk and he wouldn't want to, he'd demand to get the same deal as any top WR who's not one bong hit away from involuntarily calling it a career, and so that would be that and he'd go sign somewhere else anyway.

I hope we use the extra 3rd for a quality TE. I was starting to think we'd grab the first TE off the board, right before the Ravens did.

Glad he's gone. Dude had a really entitled, narcissistic attitude for a guy that was given as many chances as he was. Pretty douchey of him to call the trade a "blessing" after he left as well. Should've been "Sorry I was such a jackass, thank you to those who still believed in me even when I was acting a fool, thanks to Ben for trying to motivate me, and to Coach T and the organization for giving me second and third chances".

Bye Felicia. Draft Pettis, or Washington and fill Martavis' role.

Agreed - in addition to the possibility of a marijuana relapse, with Bryant in a contract year I have zero confidence he would last an entire season without being disruptive as the #3 wide receiver behind AB and JuJu in addition to more targets potentially going to McDonald

WOW the trade caught me by surprise and, in the long run it's probably for the best. Still a shame what the offense could have been if Bryant would not have wasted a year with the suspension this offense could have been almost unstoppable. Let's hope we can get a good return for this trade.

its not like this kid was said to be a 7th round UDFA like talent .... he will make the team I would bet 10 years salary on that

You are right. The Bryant trade was shrewd while the #1 pick was another where they may have outsmarted themselves again. I was expecting something more conventional and if there was a reach it might have been better for an OLB or DL. I understand the logic in the selection, but it looks like another high risk project.

The 3rd round pick just might pan out better with a more traditional talent for a position in need.

So far it isn't looking like 1974.

Pretty sure we already had the OT pick going into the draft. Traded MB for #79, then traded that and a 7th to Thehags for #76 and took Rudolph. How i understood it anyway.
