Is there a better defnese in the NFL right now than the Steelers. This reminds me of those games in 1976 when Terry Bradshaw had a neck injury after the team started 1-4 with him. You'll never see a more dominant performance by a defense than that one that season as it threw shutout after shutout and just beat down everyone.

However, in these first two games and considering all the rules they've passed over the past 24 years to help offenses, it's hard to imagine a defense playing any better to open the season...................

Seven turnovers! That's more than they've had in any game in 13 years. And they just slammed Chris Johnson. He had 8 yards in one game as a rookie. His 34 yards Sunday tied his second-lowest, plus he lost a fumble. He did not look as though he wanted to be in there at the end, which is what linebacker James Harrison said.

The Steelers have found a way to go 2-0 without Ben Roethlsiberger and the next two games are gravy because they can come out of this at 2-2 and be in good shape. However, they want to be in better same than that. And Mike Tomlin came out smoking yesterday, ripping those who thought his team could not win without Roethlisberger.

The Steelers were underdogs in their first two games and swept both of them, doing so without starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the man who was supposed to replace him, Byron Leftwich.

“Regardless of our demise being reported, we expect to win,’’ Tomlin declared Sunday. “We’re pleased that we are 2-0 but we are not astounded by it. We’re capable. We’re a little bit annoyed to be quit honest about our premature reporting of our death.’’

I heard the press conference and some reporter asked "What are you annoyed at?"

They play best when they have a chip on their shoulder and are under the radar.

3-1 is what I am seeing... But maybe not after seeing some of the Raven game.. Really hard to say..

I try to be objective and stay away from the homer, knee-jerk reaction path as much as possible, but this is clearly the best defense in football the first two weeks.

No other defense shuts Johnson down the way we did. There are some that will do a good job of containing him, but this is a team that played perfect fundamentals from a run defense standpoint the entire game. It is simply incredible and almost gives me an insight into what the defenses of the 70's, namely the '76 squad, looked like since I wasn't even close to being born.

I have to agree here - there isn't a single D that has played more dominantly than the Steelers D has in this season's infancy. They came out fired up and played intense Steelers kick ass defensive football the entire game. :clap2: Every member of that unit played a huge role in today's W - whether it was stopping the best RB in the NFL, pressuring and slamming the Tites QB's or making the Tites look like a high school team. :tt02:

Kudos to Coach Dad for having his "sons" ready to rumble and accomplishing everything they set out to do - and more. :applaudit: :drink:

Definitely reminiscent of our smothering 2008 defense.

If the our defense stays relatively injury free this could be a helluva year!

I couldn't be more excited......except perhaps if we had an o-line. lol.

To paraphrase Mark Twain....The rumors of the Steelers' demise have been greatly exaggerated. :-)

Our defense is awesome they are hitting hard on every play. They looked really good through 2 games.
