(I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I am an Andrew McCutchen fan. This is the equivalent of trading Troy Polamalu or Sidney Crosby. Cutch brought baseball back to Pittsburgh and made everyone excited about it again. And a top notch human being to boot. I feel awful for Pirates fans. Just sick to my stomach.)

The high-water mark of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 21st century came on the night of Oct. 1, 2013, as 40,487 fans clad in black and gold rang PNC Park with chants of “CUE-TO, CUE-TO.” On the mound stood Reds ace Johnny Cueto, Cincinnati’s choice to start the NL wild-card game against a Pirates team that was making its first postseason appearance in 21 years. But in the second inning, he’d run into trouble, surrendering a solo home run to Marlon Byrd that brought out the chants. A few minutes later, Cueto, while facing Russell Martin, dropped the ball while transferring it from glove to hand. The chants grew louder. On the very next pitch, Martin rocketed a ball out over the left-center wall for a home run. The chants became deafening.......

Same 'ol story, just a different year... Jason Schmidt, Aramis Ramirez, Jason Kendall, Brian Giles, Xavier Nady, Jason Bay, Nate McLouth, Jack Wilson... Get a good guy (talent & demeanor) early in his career, make him the face of the franchise for a couple years, then dump him for prospects to start the cycle over. The Pirates are just another farm club for the rest of the MLB. Eventually, everyone goes. A shame.

I'm going to miss Cutch so much. I'm not even going to attend a Pirates' game this summer because I'm pissed. I'll stick with the Altoona Curve games for now.

I feel badly for his wife. She's from DuBois and has to leave family. They have so much money, she can probably fly home whenever she wants, though, so that's a good thing.

Thank you, Cutch, and best of luck to you in San Francisco.

It was a sad day when he was traded, but I knew it was coming. I’ve been watching every game for decades. I’ve been through worse teams than this. The moves they made, while unpopular, were most likely necessary. It is what it is. I’ll be at the game in May when cutch comes back to town and will gladly give him a standing ovation. He will be miseed
