If Gruden goes, as reported, WHO are you putting in his MNF seat?

Get rid of McDonaugh. What a bust he's been. Not that I was expecting much.

I don't always have the Steelers Radio feed set up and I don't normally watch non Steeler games but sometimes I want to hear the live TV broadcast for Steeler games.

I got no problems with Foot Lover as the analyst.

With Jon Gruden Likely Headed to the Raiders, How Will ESPN Fill His Spot on Monday Night Football?

“I think Mike Tomlin would be fantastic in the studio or the booth," said a high-ranking NFL broadcast staffer at another network. :behindsofa:

You bring up a good point. After 10 more years and 2-3 more Super Bowl wins I think Tomlin would be a huge hit in broadcasting. Obviously.

Tony Romo is about the only NFL announcer that I can stand to listen to any more. He's been a breath of fresh air this season. Maybe they can steal him from CBS?

Mike Lombardi? His work on the Ringer NFL podcasts is entertaining and brutally honest. He has a one track sense of humor and slant on things, but at least he has seemingly no interest in pulling his punches.

I only watch the Monday Night games when the Steelers are on it but watch the CBS games every weekend so I would prefer they keep Tony there, he has become one of my favorite color guys, don't really care who they get for Monday Night as long as Gruden is gone.

What current NFL coach other than Tomlin would you want to step down and take the job?

That’s not a terrible idea, but I don’t think he could hold his own for three hours...

Now that Palmer is retiring, he joins with his brother in the MNF booth.

Snoop and Brett Michaels is still my favorite combo for the MNF gig. Both huge Steelers fans.

 Tomlin would be awful. Nobody would would be able to figure out a damn thing he is talking about.
:tomlinism:

I really don't care who does it as long as Gruden is GONE. Now if they would just do something about the way ESPN manipulates the crowd noise up and down. It's so phony sounding. Drives me nuts.

I wouldn't mind if Peyton Manning got the job. He has a great sense of humor and nobody studies game film more than he does, right?

Of course, he talks like he has a mouth full of marbles, so I dunno...

Former quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will call ESPN’s Pro Bowl telecast on Jan. 28, the network said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports on Friday.

ESPN executive Stephanie Druley described Hasselbeck calling the game alongside play-by-play voice Sean McDonough as "a great fit." It also amounts to a tryout for the Monday Night Football analyst job that was left vacant when Gruden was hired as coach of the Oakland Raiders this week.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2018/01/12/matt-hasselbeck-call-espns-pro-bowl-tryout-monday-night-football/1028380001/

I do not know anyone who watches a game based on who is announcing it but that does not seem to be an inspired choice

The best way to do this is put your best play by play caller, with Tony Romo, the current top color guy, and maybe add a 3rd for rules and controversial calls.

IMO, Tony Romo is the best in the business.

But... keep him at CBS. That way, we get him calling Steelers games more often (lots of Sundays... as opposed to the occasional Monday).
