Yeah, I think we've staffed their team quite enough over the years.

What do you guys feel is the proper protocol for something like this. Rude to Munch to decline?

The proper protocol in my opinion is to let him have the interview, you don't want to be viewed as holding a guy back from bettering his career.

Agreed. This is also consistent with Tomlin's character.

Well, you know what I mean. :)

No team is gonna deny an assistant an interview for a HC job. This ain’t college.

Just double whatever they're offering. Not even joking.

Give him his own full-time hooker if that's what he wants.

Sorry, that was inappropriate. I should've used the proper term "handjob technician."

Would be a HUGE loss...

This would actually be a bad move for all parties involved. Munchak would be making a bad career move as he is a great O-line coach but hadn't shown much as a head coach, the Cardinals would be selecting a retread head coach who did not have success in a previous tenure as head coach, and the Steelers would lose their top assistant coach and a guy who is very valuable to the team.

Give them Joey Porter's number by "mistake".

I'd hate to see him go, but the man has done an outstanding job here and deserves a promotion.

They want a Mike "M"

Tell them they want Mike Mularkey not Mike Munchak. Mularkey's a former Steelers coach. He should suffice.

That really doesn't make a lot of sense. He was a bad HC. The Steelers need to do whatever it takes to keep him.

He was 22-26 with a team that wasn't very talented. If Tomlin retired tomorrow I'd be happy with Munch taking over. The Cardinals would be wise to hire him, but I don't think they'll dip into the Steelers pool three times in a row.

Does anyone know the logistics behind giving interview permission? Do we even have an incentive to do so, other than giving Munchak good common courtesy?

They refused to allow Butler to interview at least a few times. Nothing really happened other than they kept giving him pay increases and paper promotions.

Mike Tomlin just said at the PC that they will allow it.

I saw Mike Garofalo last night on the NFLN and he seems to think the Cardinals are going to interview a lot of candidates. Munch just one on the list, but who knows if he fits what they want. BA was brash, in your face, dropping F bombs and Munch is the opposite, so who knows what kind of culture trying to have there? My guess is he doesn't end up there, but no promises he isn't somewhere else.

seems mechanical.. I perfer the term blow job artist

on a serious note.. didn't Munch have HC options available to him when he took the assistant coach position? He may not (I'm hoping anyways) want the stress, headache, and work load of a HC. Man it would be disappointing to lose him

As I said in another thread...

We could offer Munchak $10 million/season, and he’d still probably take a HC job. Why? Nothing beats being your own boss.

I forgot about Sarrett. Only problem would be if Munch wanted to take his second in command along to Arizona!
