They grow up so fast. :bounce:

Watching the playoffs last year pretty much showed us that we didn't have a single WR on the team that could be counted on consistently after AB. The need was there, even with Bryant coming back. I didn't know anything about JuJu when we drafted him but I'm sure glad that we did.

I can't find the draftday round 2 thread in this forum. :chuckle:

I wasn't mad, I'm a supporter of drafting the BPA. It's won us championships! After all, we weren't in need of a QB when Ben dropped to us. That worked out well

I don't think I was mad at anyone except Bryant and Coates about that pick. Nice that it worked out a well as it did, though.

Agreed, anybody that remembers ending last season with Cobi Hamilton and Demarcus Ayers playing WR, should not have been upset with the JuJu pick. Personally, I thought it was a great pick.

The AFC Championship game last year exposed the Steelers' biggest weaknesses.

No reliable backup after AB, and a crappy secondary.

Being A lifelong ND fan and watching this guy kill the Irish every time he played them. I knew Juju was good. although I didn't expect him to take off like he did. But he is doing the same thing for Steelers he did for SC. although there he was returner as well and scored td's. reading the comments after he was picked was hilarious. as most had no clue other than reading scouting reports which are not always accurate.

In hindsight, our depth at the WR position before the season or before the draft was the most overrated thing of this team ....

Good find.

What is interesting is the consensus among most of us about Cameron Sutton and Desmond King being good CBs. As the season draws to a close, we were right. Yeah, us!!!

That was awesome just talking draft with a bunch of good guys that know their players and try to break down the skills of each player and how they fit. It was great as many of you called it as each team picked because you knew other team's needs and the players available. As is always the case, you gave a lot of input and were all over it. You and SecondaryConcerns were two of the mainstays.

As usual, I think I aged about 5 years over the couple days of the draft! :chuckle:

I went through the whole thread again. I was laughing my ass off at a lot of the comments!:sofunny:

That was truly fun for me. I know you feel the same way.

Draft day is one of my favorite days... and not just for the draft (it’s the discussions & comradery).

(btw: you nailed the Brian Allen pick.)

Don't beat yourself up about it. That's what the evaluation process is all about. Everybody.....and I mean everybody has players that they are dead wrong about.

You were big enough to admit you were wrong about him. There's no shame in that.

Oh, for sure. It’s part of the fun for me with the draft. It’s such a crapshoot. I was certain Lima’s Sweed was gonna be great!!

I also was pumped about Shamarko!!

Yeah, I wish we would have taken him instead of Jarvis Jones, but in the end neither worked out in the league.

I'd say my biggest misjudgement over the years was Steven Jackson. He looked like a guy that ran so upright and he piled up big numbers against the lousy teams in the Pac10, but when they played any of the better teams he had pedestrian rushing games. Oh well, I thought we needed a WR and JuJu showed early in camp that he was gonna be solid.

Not exactly, Gibson was the #2 WR at Georgia back then and a 4th round pick. Sweed was one of the all time WR leaders at Texas but was coming back from an injury, so the thought was he was devalued in the 2nd because of his injury.

The drag about Gibson, who never made the 53 was that I thought Chris Canty was a good fit for the 3-4 and the Steelers passed on him in the 4th to take Gibson.

Didn't need a QB? We were desperate for a QB. Ben is all everyone around here was talking about leading up to the draft. We knew he had a chance to fall to us, and he did.
