View Full Version : Week 16: The Root of All Evil (aka A$$holes)

For those of s who watch other games, and want a rooting interest, here are the winners/losers who would most help the Steelers...

COLTS @ RAVENS
Duh. Go Colts!!!

BILLS @ TAPERIOTS
Duh. Go Bills!!!!!

JAGUARS @ NINERS
Hear me out. Yes, the Steelers can secure the #2 seed with a Steelers win and a Jaguars loss. But, if the Jaguars win out AND the Taperiots lose to either the Bills or Jets, the Taperiots would drop to the #3 seed... which means a) no bye, b) an extra game for them, and c) having to play in Florida (assuming they win in the wild card round). The Taperiots are 1-4 in Miami recently, and Nick Folk’s three missed FGs are the only reason that they won in Tampa. Plus, even if they beat the Jaguars, the Taperiots would be bruised by that Jaguars defense. So, absolutely, this is more about my disdain for the Taperiots than it is about playoff seeding. Regardless... Go Jags.

The rest of the games don’t matter: bring on whomever in the playoffs!!!

Here’s to an “all road-team victory” weekend. :drink:

Enjoy!!!

That would be the perfect storm, but in all seriousness, it'll be a stretch. I give the Bills a 25% chance of beating the Pats, 49ers over Jags is a toss up imo 50%. Jags are the much better team on paper, but the cross country flight to SF, and the niners playing more inspired now with their new QB, I can see them having a decent chance of winning this one.

The patriots though, have the Bills' number, but hey who knows. They haven't forgot the gronk hit so I'm sure they'll come out swining. NE will get Buffalo's best for sure, and it'll be a physical game. McCoy needs to tear it up if the Bills are going to win, since I don't think Tyrod is anything more than a game manager.

Ah is that so? Interesting, though I don't follow the Bills much. Good catch.

Considering the Bills are fighting for their playoff lives and are pissed about gronk's dirty play, I could see it happening.

Bills aren't winning in Foxboro, Jets aren't either. May be better off with Jacksonville losing (though that's not likely to happen either, Titans are struggling and 9ers aren't that much better with Jimmy G are they?)

The safe play would be to root for the Jaguars to lose, securing the #2 seed.

But, forget that. No guts, no glory.

I want the #1 seed.

I have embraced the spirit of Mike Tomlin, and I’m not going to live in my fears: I am confident that the Steelers will handle their own business (beat the Texans and the Browns) thus securing the #2 seed on their own accord. Ergo, in order to drop the Taperiots down to the #3 seed (not getting a bye week), the Jaguars HAVE to win. So, go Jags.

The problem with that theory is that if Kraft wouldn't let Belichick trade Brady, why would he just stand by and watch as Belichick traded away Brissett, and Garoppolo, if he didn't understand the move? Those two, Kraft and Belichick, had to come to an agreement on all of it. Both of them knew what they had in Garoppolo. Note where they traded him to. How often do the Patriots play the 49ers? Remember who they traded Drew Bledsoe to?

Looking ahead slightly....

There are 4 teams left with a shot at the final 2 playoff spots. Titans, Ravens, Chargers, and Bills. IF all 4 win/lose next week, the Titans and Chargers get those final spots due to Titans beat Ravens, and Chargers beat Bills. Titans would be the 5th seed and Chargers would be the 6th seed, due to conference win percentage. This sends the Chargers to Jax, and the Titans to KC.
So somehow Titans and chargers still control their own playoff fate.
