Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said the Steelers have gone back their roots and started running the ball a lot more.

"They are, they ran it 31-32 times and Dennis (Dixon) had 24 pass attempts, 12 of which were on third down—or 27 attempts, something like that," Fisher said. "So they are, they’re going to run the football and control the clock, and they’re going to get the ball back on defense. There were 31 third down attempts in this game, so they’ve gotten back to their old philosophy and they’ve got a young, mobile quarterback who can make plays."

Titans linebacker Will Witherspoon said the Steelers like to use the run as their first option, before having Dixon throw the ball.

"You could see that these guys were really pounding the ball in the past couple of games and they really want to get downhill," Witherspoon said. "Mendenhall is a great back and they've definitely got a system that wants you to get downhill and attack the ball. They want to get the ball moving forward on the ground before they take any chances putting the ball in the air."

Pittsburgh running back Rashard Mendenhall broke a 50 yard touchdown run against the Falcons in overtime that gave the Steelers the win. The Steelers finished with 143 rushing yards against Atlanta.

Defensive tackle Jason Jones has played well against the Steelers in the Titans past two matchups, recording 11 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Jones said stopping Mendenhall could be a key to helping the Titans win the game.

You think ???

That's the kind of brilliance that can get you a post-playing career position on the coaching staff of the Browns or Cowboys.

...and with a 50 lb. advantage on the line last week you would think they'd be running down hill all day....

especially in the 2nd half....

We seemed to be in 3rd and long a lot. However, I was encouraged by the conversions Redman made in short yardage. It was definitely an improvement over the crap we've had to endure the last couple of seasons in short yardage.

If you were implying that we couldnt run the ball on 3rd down, most of those 7 failed conversions were pass attempts. 3 of the 4 successful conversions were made by Issac Redman. That kid looks like the real deal on 3rd and short.

What, are the Titties using voodoo priestesses and chicken bones to offset the curse of the Terrible Towel? :noidea:

Agree that isn't good but with our starting quarterback out you can't expect much more then that.
