Was cut by the 49ers today.

I say we sign him right now and finally get rid of Landry! Hoyer would be one of the better backup QBs in the league.

He will be a Patriot tomorrow and 49ers cut him after the JG trade with them to help the Pat's since they have no backup qb now.

Pat's will also trade the pick they got off of them which is basically almost a late rd1 or there round 1 for Ty Hilton before tomorrow is over.

Agreed - I do not think Hilton can fit under the Pats available 2017 cap $$ (<$6 million)

Also Hilton really isn't that good. He's not a scrub but he is not a #1 WR. That makes his contract even worse.

They may try to go after Jarvis Landry though.

Landry Jones better than Hoyer? Really? Hoyer is an entire echelon above Jones. When given at least some semblance of an offensive cast hes been decent. Which is exactly why the Patriots will poach him right back

Maybe I haven't paid close enough attention but I have seen nothing that tells me that Hoyer's better than Jones

Yep, he's sucked ass every time I've ever seen him play. I don't see any discernible difference between him and Landry Jones.

Which is which?

QB A: 59.3 completion % and throws 1.6 TDs for every INT

QB B: 60.3 completion % and throws 1.17 TDs for every INT

Or are they the same guy?

Hoyer is the only QB to have a winning record with the Browns in his career since 1999!

Not a bad deal, trade Garop for a draft pick, pick up Hoyer for nothing. That is why the Pats* stay good and San Fran is in decline.

Here's the thing about Hoyer....He HAS played well at times. He has looked like a decent backup for most of his career. But....in a league that puts such a premium on QBs, why hasn't he stuck with ANY team? He's still better than anything the Browns have put under center since he left. I think the guy thinks he's Jeff George or Jay Cutler, only he doesn't possess their talent. Just their attitude. Good enough to make teams look, but not good enough for teams to want to pay him. The 49ers get a 2nd round QB with potential as good as any they could draft in the 2nd. The Pats get a veteran backup should Brady miss a game or 2, plus a 2nd round pick(probably 33 or 34 overall). Win-Win I say. At least for today.

:rofl: Exactly..... has anybody stopped to realize that they are actually advocating for Brian Hoyer to be the Steelers QB? What is next....seeing if Brandon Weeden is available?
